Remedy
Whats your opinion of Remedy?

I like Remedy, he's a very nice guy and he's super chill. The problem though is, I will always feel guilty towards him. I think pretty much nobody knows what's up with me and Remedy and this needs some explanations. I did a big mistake a couple seasons ago and it does concern him and me. We were both on the same team, we had a pretty good season in open, we went 19-1. The thing is though, I never had a great chemistry with him as a pocket. And during the second most important match of the season (semi finals) we had a close game against Doggle/Techdude team. At one point during the match we were pushing gullywash 4th with a good uber advantage, we were about to win the round. The main issue at this point was that they had a sniper on bats, it got called pretty early though. I remember we or I called him to aggress the sniper, Remedy was fully buffed at 300 and we didn't need help capping since we were mostly all on point. I avoided the sniper for a couple seconds, I did hide behind the protections on top of the point. The sniper started to move further and still didn't get jumped and got an angle on me, he fired one more shot but didn't hit. It's at the very moment when the sniper had the chance to fire a third or fourth shot on me that I got very pissed off at him. I eventually dropped an uber from an headshot. We went from being able to push their last with a 60% uber advantage to losing the round. It's not so much the round or the match that we lost that mattered to me. I commpletely lost my trust in him, after that I was convinved that I could no longer play with him if I wanted to win the season. This whole story is harsh because the #pug.na team wasn't meant to be a "cut your way to the top team". I will probably always feel some guilt from cutting him during the playoffs. So, no matter how much I like the guy I am ashamed to speak to him because of what I did.

Eggplant
Every day, countless innocent players get fat kidded on tf2.pug, game after game. Thoughts?

I am very upset about that.

crumpet
can we send some emails to gamesurge and put pug.na back in your hands

Gamesurge would never do that, unless a channel got hijacked illegally they would not transfer the ownership because the opinion of a group of person think it would be "in better hands".

mustardoverlord
if a team made entirely of french canadians actually tried and got its best roster possible how good would it be (with kayp or w/e)

It would be dante on scout, dzk on scout (ex-invite COD player who barely anybody knows him in the TF2 community but this guy is a pure beast), kayp on roam, FFG on pocket, me on medic and sharkill on demo. I am confident the team would be pretty good, somewhere around mid-IM, maybe more.

glad to know you enjoyed!

Saltysally1
if your "new" bot is better then the current tf2.pug bot (not to be confused with tf2.pug.na) you should put it on there so we dont get people who add up as warlock....LOL drift

Not sure if I understand you there.

megawac
Cinq à sept sometime? Courtesy of last season league fees :)

Yeah man! If you come at ETS I can guarantee we will have a good cinq à sept. You are Canadian right?

FFG
why are you so awesome?

Every day I try my best to have fun while respecting the liberties of others. I also love creating stuff that I think makes this world a better place. I don't think what I do is helping a lot but it's better than living off others or destroying things.

Do you think playing competitive TF2 (having to talk in mumble and steam) has significantly helped to improve your English speaking abilities?

Also, how are you? :D

Playing TF2 helped me a lot. People who knows me since a while told me I am easier to understand now, I also think I understand other people better than ever. I still have issues hearing everything what is going in Mumble during a match/scrim but I think it's more related to me. I am always distracted and I have issues focusing on things. I always loved that aspect because it is something that is helping me at my job since I work in IT for a company that does business in Quebec and half the people I speak to during the day don't speak French.

I am doing great man. I wanna do a shootout to you by the way, muffin is the chillest demoman I have ever played with. I think he's gonna surprise many if he goes in invite. We played one season together and it was a great one. While muffin had major Internet issues all season long he still managed to do amazing anyway. I hope you are doing great too!

where is the best place to get poutine and waffles in canada

In Montreal it's La Banquise, I recommend a Poutine with bacon. The breakfast poutine we got with davis, destro and ehfk was also quite epic, I don't remember where it was though. I think you can get great poutines almost everywhere in Quebec. You just need a French Canadian with you to confirm you if it was amazing or not (since we know). In my town it's Bebe, their BBQ sauce is the best one. As for the waffles it's not a French Canadian thing. I never ate one in a restaurant until I went to Whistler BC (West Coast). French Canadians prefer "crepes" and we make them at home. They are delicious.

can i have ur blutsauger

I wanna keep it. Since I can only invent the medic class once* I won't be able to get an other one.

*PS: I didn't invent the medic class.

thoughts on vhalin

vhalin is an underrated player. He doesn't get the credit for how good he truly is.

do you like waffles

Indeed I like waffles, they are amazing with Canadian maple syrup.

I have no ideia who you are. Please talk a bit of the things you did for the community

I started the PUG channel #tf2.pug.na that took over the most popular PUG channel which was #tf2.gather.us back then. I coded a system that was letting the people borrow servers from a server pool in #tf2scrim. I rewrote the MGE forums to make them look exacly like Gotfrag. Through the PUG channel I took decisions that influenced things like DM mode that is installed in pregame and disabled when you go live. I coded the DM supplemental stats and got them used as a standard by tf2logs.com I also made a thread that made them used by ESEA a couple days after. I am currently working on a web based IRC client atf2.org that is meant to be the next step in my PUG system. I helped with vhalin to redesign the ESEA PUG system. I probably did more stuff but that's what I remember at the moment.

Edit: I forgot about the Uber script. I coded something that plays a sound in Mumble when you right click your mouse. I never really used it because my team found the alert more distracting than anything else. Maybe if only I didn't use a goofy sound like that one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV-qS82lXtk

Why aren't you famous.

I am not as famous as a top players like clockwork or a caster like eXtine but I am known by a fair amount of people in the competitive community. What I do for the community is not giving me much exposure but it does influence it. I coded things that are probably used by you every day if you play competitive TF2. I also coded things that inspired others to code their own version or better version.

wait aren't you invite?

Yes and no, I made invite twice. Once with AI, once with PW. With PW it was a different story, I was on their roster because I sponsored the team and was a not very serious backup. I just left the team though. Also, according to Platinum I was the worst player in invite this season. There's a reason for that and I assume Platinum knows it anyway. I agree with him.

I was trying my best to work with them. At this point I realize it failed and it's a matter of time when I will start it. If I don't do it right away it's because I am kind of busy right now. My sister is visiting with her kids and all (she lives very far away), I have a job and other stuff. So as soon as I am ready I will do it.

#25 tf2.pug is not running a protective system anymore in TF2 General Discussion

I fixed an other issue. The servers weren't sending the substitute information to the main bot. I solved the problem by reinstalling sourcemod and restarting the servers. Again, an other issue blamed on my bot when it wasn't after some verification on my part.

pot, for you this is a non issue but for me it is. I did design the original bot that is very similar to pingu's one. This design come from a year and half experience running the channel and listening to everybody suggestions. I discussed so many time with nice guys and decent players that were getting left out many times in a row. I got very concerned about this issue. The problem is, it took me a very long time to figure out a design that would actually work. A design that would let us have competitive captain games while being consistent to the guys who are expecting to play at least in the next 30 minutes.

The whole situation is very frustrating for me because when I left the channel I suggested to the guys who were going to work on the channel to fix a bunch of issues while I am completing other improvements that I was almost done with. Instead pingu chose to completely rewrite the bot in a different architecture and a different language. Not only the new upcoming changes I was going to bring were no longer compatible but I had to re-learn a bot while I had one that I was very comfortable working with. This thing is going to happen again and it's very frustrating for me. It's like, I am giving sound advise regarding where things should head to but the people are ignoring my suggestions and do their way.

Also, it is not true that most PUGs start with 12 people, a PUG exceed the limit when it waits for captains and medics. Most of the time people are getting left out, no matter what is the level of the players added. Just this afternoon I added without knowing it was the PUG.NA bot. I added as demo, we had about 18 players added. I didn't get picked during the captain round. It's OK, I can see why, I am not as good as the other demos. But I really wanted to play demo. Though, the big issue there is, I am not even guaranteed to play the next game as demo, because other better demos will join and more players than needed are going to be added up when captains are going to pick the players.

Here's a discussion I had with Fog later tonight:
pepperfan: what is the list of the most critical bug to fix?
pepperfan: there wasn't a thousand
pepperfan: like
pepperfan: the people removing before the game starting
pepperfan: what else?
Gettin' Foggy Wit It: Gettin' Foggy Wit It: like what exactly was wrong with the pug bot?
narf: captain mode tends to fail about 1/2 the time
narf: it fails to put a server back in rotation
narf: some bugs related to !endgame that were due to my changes (it left people in a semi limbo state and started a game with 3 demos)
Gettin' Foggy Wit It: the last one being part of his re-organization

Two of the critical bugs that made them stop using the current system is related to bugs they caused themselves. The bug regarding the server not going back in the rotation is related to the endgame they broke. And they are saying my bot is buggy as shit. Of course it had bugs, it was a very quickly written prototype to show that a picking system like this should works and should be good for the community.

The other critical bug was caused by a typo. You can see it there: https://github.com/550/tf2ib/commit/f080b6faef7915776152bf9fd34aff24713b92bc They had a full month to fix such a simple bug and they didn't even fix it. Their solution was to move away from my code? I mean, come on. How hard are they even trying?

Anyway, things should work now and I hope we are going to keep using my code because I think it's in the best interest of everybody if I can keep implementing the ideas I have for this project. I might not have a lot of time this summer but I should have more this winter.

#1 tf2.pug is not running a protective system anymore in TF2 General Discussion

pepperfan: the name of the messengers are not consisten in tf2.pug
pepperfan: there's a messenger called pug-bot
pepperfan: how can 7 demos can add?
pepperfan: what is going on
jaybenaduchi: ohh its back to pingus, i created a poll and more than 90% of ppl wanted to change it
jaybenaduchi: and narf was having trouble implementing things on yours
pepperfan: what is the point of have 2 fucking broken channels?
pepperfan: is that a joke?
pepperfan: you guys really didn't understand the point of the whole thing didn't you?
pepperfan: you have no idea how mad i am right now
jaybenaduchi: ok
jaybenaduchi: thats your opinion
jaybenaduchi: we tried your bot out
jaybenaduchi: it was buggy as shit
jaybenaduchi: impossible to implement new things
pepperfan: of course it was a prototype, it had to be fixed
pepperfan: well, so what you are saying is you guys can't code anything new at all. you guys are not even able to fix stuff.
jaybenaduchi: narf is working on adding random to pingus
pepperfan: all you guys are able to do is run already coded stuff. great. that has to be hard.

#1 L4D on Linux in TF2 General Discussion

Great news everybody, the L4D2 engine is now running faster on Linux than it runs on Windows. Valve updated their blog today with this post: http://blogs.valvesoftware.com/linux/faster-zombies/

Any FPS performance increase is a good news considering how heavy to run TF2 is.
