fgp are up big time after their win against Sidetalk. they stay at 2 even tho they beat Sidetalk cos i dont trust a 3-1 metalworks win, and they struggled against the #3 and 5 teams
obese whales are up now that theyve actually played real matches with their real roster
Sweaty Spaghetti are down cos im not sure why i put them at #2 to begin with

the top 6 maybe 7 is still pretty close this season, looking forward 2 seeing important matches on a real map this week

looking for padre remain the gatekeepers of the top 10

fgp and obese whales both have yet to play some important W3 matches so i might retool these on sunday if there's an upset

im literally only saying that cos wandum already said he didnt like the new book lol. if miller's book gets people into classics thats great, if they like it by itself thats great, i feel like im doing the opposite of gatekeeping. i generally agree with kiki on everything here but i just think youve slightly misunderstood where im coming from

and yes i would love to be able to read the original texts or hear a homeric recitation but i cant. i tried going thru my dads homeric greek companions and it just never really clicked for me in a natural enough way to really feel like reading

also dont see how recommending a (widely beloved) translation is "stanning" one, im just trying to give a good entry point which i dont think you can say it isnt

anyway, i havent read alexanders translation but per your recommendation ill try to grab a copy for my next read :)

i dont really think the iliad is that inaccessible tho, esp if u read lattimore's brilliant intro (this might just be my bias)
the miller book sounds neat on its own ig, tho i probably wouldnt be personally interested in having a modern filter put over on ancient ideas of sexuality from a very unsexual text

the iliad (ideally the lattimore translation) is just straight up a perfect book dont know what the purpose of a retelling would be except to miss the point
