#21 UGC Plat: MenaceToSociety vs. bote team in Events
harbleujust some insight on the match, it looks like bote's starting demo won't be here tonight and instead of using one of their 10 backups they have on the roster they want to use a ringer instead. i normally have no issue allowing ringers regular season, but with that many backups and having had a whole season to have coverage for all classes i chose to deny them one. they apparently didn't even try asking their backups before trying to get a ringer instead, whats the point of having backups if you don't even try to use them? hopefully its still a good match and whoever they have show up ends up playing well.

I don't know if you follow other Highlander teams very closely given the amount of security you have starting on mTs for years now, but finding a demoman who is able to compete at the top of Platinum yet is also willing to learn and dedicate to the nuances of Highlander is incredibly difficult for teams outside of the top. It's the largest hurdle for newer teams in Platinum that slow them down from reaching the upper parts of the division despite having very talented players on other classes. I can't emphasize this enough.

I respect your decision to deny their ringer, but given how class-specific Highlander is not all of those backups may actually play demo and since there is a huge expectation for a demo's performance at the top of Platinum, I wouldn't have been surprised if all 10 of those backups fell a little short of that. If their best bet for the team after Muma was having Freestate off-class (who is a great demo but it's not his best class), then I also hope that gives you a better picture of how badly top tier demo mains are wanted in Highlander but are in short supply. I think that allowing the ringer would have been a more fair decision towards bote's chances in playoffs.

BXHUD = best hud
what would a sniping hud even have

I never said anything about a sniper-specific HUD. Maybe a centralized HUD is just what he's really looking for?

#15 TF2 Confirmed dead by Richard Lewis in TF2 General Discussion
Richard Lewis"I'm all about eSports. I don't care about what the game is. I care about the business."

He said that shortly afterwards and I think it explains all too well that a lot of eSports comes from sponsors throwing money on what's only popular rather than looking for more competitive video games with tougher skill curves. It generates more revenue for everyone involved and grabs better advertising for the sponsors but I think it sacrifices a lot of why players started playing video games competitively in the first place before there was money involved - because of the challenge.

We can whine about Valve not supporting our competitive scene but at least their eSports titles (Dota 2 and CS:GO) I would argue are way more difficult to master than Call of Duty, League of Legends, or Hearthstone and I'm happy that that brings more legitimacy towards eSports in general and the effort it takes to become a professional player and earn 6-figures playing video games.

I'm assuming he did a fair bit of production work for the Viagame Hearthstone tournament which was very well done. Props to him for whatever part he played in making the stream one of the most entertaining and hilarious Hearthstone streams I've ever watched.

#43 Cheater/Hacker thread in TF2 General Discussion

The thing with UGC is that their policy doesn't ban cheaters as long as they haven't been caught in a match setting. It drastically limits the window for them to receive punishment for any of their mistakes that shows signs of cheating. Additionally, UGC doesn't support publishing their player bans very openly like ETF2L does.

#91 Froyotech = Death of tf2? in TF2 General Discussion

I thought people practiced a lot to do well at LAN and beat the top teams because they were very passionate about this game, not because you want to entertain the largest crowd or make the biggest paycheck from attending. Froyotech isn't making the biggest bank either; at the end of the day it's all hobby money for everyone.

If it takes an unreasonable amount of time to the point that you're practicing TF2 like a career to beat a team like Froyotech, which is the general vibe that's being passed around in this thread, then it makes sense that most people aren't trying to beat the "super-team" because you can't financially sustain or balance that lifestyle when the game doesn't have that much money involved.

However, if that is really not the case and a large number of old Invite players no longer feel invested in the game, then maybe it's just time to allow more room for new players to step up. I feel like there's been this large pool of players in ESEA for awhile now with the potential for becoming Invite talent, but because they don't have connections or the right team to play with, a lot of them are just kept under the bus.

How many times do you see top Open or strong IM teams circulating and mixing around the same pool of players every season? It happens so much because it's significantly harder and it can take a lot of luck to be on that perfect team with everyone working on board to make Invite (like Street Hoops) than to be a player with enough potential for Invite going from team to team in high Open or IM every season.

#65 ESEA Invite: Froyotech vs. The Mad Men in Events
marmadukeGRYLLSmostly because that's laughable that a team of 6 players picked off of random teams in NA are going to somehow do what europe and australia and americas "super" teams never came close to doing in beating froyo on lan. i could see teams getting close if froyo kept not giving a fuck and not scrimming and other teams put in 3+ hours nightly with demo reviews and shit like that but if froyo went tryhard to prep for lan lolggandyourelyingtoyourselfifyouthinkotherwise

I was always kind of curious that besides the lack of true high level competition in Australia, why iM with such an incredibly talented roster still couldn't place even after boot camping for a week or two at the i52 LAN.

You would think that's way more hours of practice than what I think most Invite teams put in now let alone way more than how much effort established TF2 teams would put into the game in a short period of time. I don't think any other top TF2 team has ever done the boot-camp style practicing you normally see CS:GO teams do for majors but maybe I'm overestimating the advantage it would give over other teams in our scene.

PlotchyThis is just fucking sickening

You all kill a charity people put there TIME AND EFFORT into, all with the excuse "mehh its fine, we just started another one"

Disgusting and toxic community, everyone here needs to go fucking kill themselves, because scum like you dont even deserve to be on steam or this planet

Im just too upset to even post anymore, terrible community not deserving of a great charity like FTC

Except for the fact the same people who actually did all that work for FTC decided to make TF2Can a reality because they didn't want snoven's stupidity to end up wasting their efforts? Unreal how narrow-minded you are.

PlotchyNow that everyone has calmed the fuck down. Time for my two cents worth.

FTC was never a scam. Never has. The only link for donations was directly to childs play, and the other paypal shit was just for people who wanted to help keep the website running, cuz it costs money.

Secondly, i may have a history of scamming, but i have very little need to do it now. I rarely fucking play TF2. I barely come on steam and all i play is binding of isaac. On top of that, im trade banned, so i couldnt get shit even if i wanted to.

Snovens behaviour might have convinced people this whole thing was a scam, but heres the thing. Imagine this, you spend months working your ass off to do something good, and because of one thread, all your work goes to waste. And i agree, it was kind of a bad move on snovens part to sell the hats, but hey, that aint my fault. If this thread hadnt been made, money could have been raised for charity, we could have had a fun stream, and hats would have been given away ON STREAM AS PLANNED.

And one thing you all need to remember, there were SO many fucking people involved in this, not just the ones listed on the website. Out of all of them, only 2 had a history of scamming.

I only decided to help out with this because B_RED asked me to after a lobby, i guess thats what i get for trying to do something nice

Believe me or not, Whatever works for you. After seeing this thread, im glad i dont play this game anymore, this entire community is just as toxic as me and snoven ever were.

Have fun with your shitty game and go fuck yourselves
-washed up pyro main

You're a joke. Nobody cares about the hats themselves that were lost and it's pathetic you're trying to justify letting a fragile and fickle 15 year old handle hundreds of dollars for FTC. It really shows that you didn't give enough of a fuck about handling the charity responsibly to begin with regardless of you and snoven's shitty scammer history.

Go look at the TF2Can event. It's actually incredible that this community has the initiative to turn a sham run by scumbags and in one day, make a real charity out of it that's on its way to raise more money than FTC and I hope you're reasonable enough to understand that reality.

snovenDoctorMiggyGuys,
I spoke with Snoven.
B_RED, Wolf Machina, and Myself now have full access to the email accounts, twitch, spotify(lol wut?), the schedule information, and the steam group.
FtC is being saved. Stay tuned.

Please make FTC an enjoyable experience, its all i wanted it to be.

Why aren't you returning item donations then and going against your word? You have NO business selling those items for your own personal gain when they were intended for the event. Even with your bad history coming to light you could've still done the right thing not issuing an ultimatum for the item donations before selling them, and give the item donation bot to the new people running FTC. It's obvious you're still cashing out so desperately on what you could get.
