#11 Spawn timer overlay in TF2 General Discussion
TwiiKuuThe command (mp_showrespawntimes) now requires sv_cheats set to 1reidmarsh:( thanks so there is no way 2 see spawn time i guess?

though this specific command requires sv_cheats, you can still do showpanel specgui in order to see your teammates health/respawn timers (http://www.teamfortress.tv/39561/a-bug-and-an-exploit)
that said, you shouldn't do it because it's an exploit and I know at the very least it's not allowed in esea (presumably other leagues as well)

the real play is to communicate effectively with your team by asking things like "when are you spawning" instead of cheating and relying on a hud element to give you all the information (though obviously you can and should put it to use when you are dead and spectating your teammates, for example by calling that everyone's low hp or the next spawn wave isn't for another 10 seconds, etc.)

#14 16 matches on one map in TF2 General Discussion

I want to say product because koth is more exciting and fast paced but imo there's not as much depth and strategy as in 5cp so it would get old pretty fast.
I'd probably say gullywash or snakewater because they are the most interesting in terms of options for different types of dry pushes/wrap plays and a variety of mids and ways of pushing last (im sure demo and soldier mains are biased towards gully and medic/scouts more towards snake tho)

If we're talking pugs or scrims process would be fun but I feel like sixteen invite matches on it would be mad boring and result in a bunch of even uber stalemates on second or last.
Same thing is true of gully to be fair but there's more options for gully in terms of going water to point and doing double sacks/offclasses, and on second there's a lot of options with pushing big door and wrapping whereas on process there's not much other than pushing sewer or trying to send one behind through upper IT

#43 teaching my son to play team fortress in TF2 General Discussion
nillocRegarding all of the console commands and settings everyone's suggested, I reckon it'd be a pain in the ass to have to change all of those settings back whenever you wanted to play. If you were going to use settings like -sillygibs and turning chat off, put that in your autoexec so your son never even knows something's missing when he launches TF2. That way you can have your own separate .cfg that you execute every time you want to play so you can read chat and everything.

this or you could just have a separate custom folder
when i used to do production for tftv I made a batch script to swap a dynamic link between two custom folders so that my personal config would be entirely separate from the camera stuff (if you care to, it's also possible to make separate shortcuts with specific launch options to avoid typing -dxlevel or -windowed -noborder or whatever every time you launch the game with different settings)
if you're really motivated you could even go as far as disabling the various console commands by doing stuff like this so it can't be changed once it's set off (without relaunching the game or execcing another config)

#4 Start Streams Earlier? in TF2 General Discussion

I think it's nice when there's cool stream graphics with stat comparisons and rosters and such, especially during playoffs or important matches so the casters have time to explain the significance. Starting earlier than like 10:40 or 10:30 might not be a good idea though considering how often invite games get delayed (servers, client issues, etc.)

#21 ESEA S25 W7: froyotech vs. Ascent in Matches
nuttynutnutVeccpraying that ascent wins
Granary could actually be an upset map for Ascent based on the fact that froyo took it 4 to 1 in the S24 GF. But because of the roster changes, we'll see how this plays out.

also in the seasons past granary (along with via) was one of the main maps that ascent/xts/elevate were able to beat old froyo on (granted rosters are almost entirely different bar 2 or 3 players on each team but historically this was a map for upsets)
will also interesting to see how the team's playstyle differs with ma3la versus paddie on pocket

trippaare the ceilings tall enough for u

was gonna ask are the doorframes tall enough for you not not have to duck under whenever you walk thru?
my dad's like 6'6" and it's a major struggle for him to get around the basement without bumping his head on shit (for me as well, fuck low ceilings)
