Go to micro center to get the 3770k for $230 instead of $300+. Much better deal. Also, the fact that you got a DOA card doesn't mean anything. Usually that's just the vendor's fault. For example I bought a msi 660 ti from newegg and it was DOA, but ordering the same card from amazon it was fine. Not that newegg is a bad company, but apparently amazons version of the packaging was better•
That case is such a waste of money lmao, $160 for a case lolz. but whatever your choice.
But 680 + 3770k will be pretty nice, though a 8350 + 7970 would be much better especially when you started streaming and such.

but whatever, waste your money. Lolz. A $800 build would work just fine, even a $500 one.

#9 Stuttering while streaming in Off Topic

How do you even disable aero? I know my razr game booster automatically did it in some games, but I'd like to permanently do it.

#6 Software Throttling TF2? in Q/A Help
MoooIts just TF2. I have a AMD 965 BE (OC at 4.1) with 16GB DDR3 1800 RAM and an ATI-7970 graphics card. I still have trouble maintaining stable 120-130 fps. Oh and i use dx9frames config too.

I play BF3 and Blacklight Retribution at 250-290 fps but tf2 jumps anywhere from 55 to 170.

happens to me too
I can get over 100 200 fps in other games, hell my computer can do 40fps stable in metro 2033 maxed out at 1080p, but tf2 goes down from 50fps and then up to 120 (cap it at 132, probably could go to 400fps at some times).
Ithink its just because tf2 is badly optomized, and more cpu reliant.

#18 I need a good medic hud in TF2 General Discussion

KN hud looks nice, I liked shlaners modification of it (now he uses kbn which I dislike). Gmang doesn't look that good but the damage indicators and health numbers are really clear and easy to read.

#174 The 120Hz Monitor Thread in Hardware

I heard even 60fps on a 120hz monitor will be better. Less screen tearing for one, and better response feeling (since it can display those frames faster, even if its only 60 of them a second, might be false though since I've never really used a 120hz montitor for long enough to try that

Oblivionagebear ik he has a 2k budget but you don't need anything more than 1200 to play all modern games on max settings with good fps. no need for this sli and crossfire shit it only causes microstuttering and other complications. just get a fast single gpu and btw gpu doesn't really matter for tf2 i have the shittiest gpu possible and an okay cpu so i get above 100 frames normally.

agreed. I was figuring that getting more gpu would help in other games, but for tf2 I'd imagine even a gtx650 ti would be able to max it out. Just get a good cpu like a 3570k or a 3770k (maybe an 8350 if you stream), a cheaper gpu (maybe $200-300), and some peripherals like a good mouse and keyboard/headset. Hell you could probably max out tf2 with consistant fps with a 500 dollar budget.

#127 favorite book? in Off Topic
puddddOhhh hard question either " To Kill a Mockingbird" or "Lord of the Rings"

You know what, To kill a mockingbird is really my favorite book, when I read it in 8th grade my whole life changed, really. Thought about everything in a new way, such an amazing story. Beautiful book.

Also calvin and hobbs, my god I am so reminiscent right now. Good times, good times. Oh and the giver and 1984. So many good books

#126 favorite book? in Off Topic

Fault in our stars is a fucking terrible book. Had to read it for school this summer and its so cheesy. My favorite book. Hmmm...
As a kid my favorite was probably alex rider or something
But now I'd probably have to say my favorite book is animal farm, that or possibly elie wiesel's night or the book thief (maybe slaughterhouse 5)
