#116 ESEA-IM S22 Happenings/Predictions in TF2 General Discussion

Remember when I had the capability to admit when I was horribly wrong and correct myself. What about that is impossible for you to understand. You have literally used the same argument every time, people get things wrong. If I wanted to be lazy I could have just listed best, or nothing at all. Also, didn't I explicitly make that entire post to get people arguing. The IM thread had no posts in days before that. It's one thing to be retarded, another thing to not learn and keep trying to put the square peg in the circle hole Saam.

saamTery_Yeaaahhh I don't think so. There's no way I'd be able to keep up with the teams / matches, let alone write about them with the quality and wit that Xan had.
xan never let himself get bogged down in the quality of his analysis so you could go that route and its just as if not more entertaining

Ooooh big Saam doing what he does best with these quality burns. Now if he can find a way on the forums to miss 6 straight scatter shots and drop 150 dpm he would be doing a perfect rendition of his entire season.

BarytaQXan Zarya has some obscene health regen, it may be related to her shields in some way It's because half her "health" is a shield, regens after a bit if you don't take any damage.

Ok good, that was what I expected (considering half her health was in blue, the color of shields). Still strange that it isn't said anywhere.

I wonder why people are not mentioning that S76 ult also gives him instant reloads during its duration. The thing I have a bit of an issue with is the fact that there are a few unwritten things in the game that are kind of important. Some of which is figured out it seconds admittedly. Reinhardt's Flame Strike says it goes through people, but it also goes through all barriers. Zarya has some obscene health regen, it may be related to her shields in some way. Winston can activate his jump pack at any point because it is a boost pack, not just a jump.

S76's ult isn't particularly great, but there are not a lot of solid alternatives. His rifle already does a ton of damage, making it better would probably be more troublesome. It's still absolutely ridiculous to try and condemn a game off of that. Same thing with calling Mei the Pyro, the Pyro isn't annoying for its strength in short range. The Pyro is much more annoying because of its airblast. Literally every offensive character wins that fight if a single ability is up

#72 Thoughts on Overwatch? in Other Games

I didn't get to play as much as I would have liked (due to finals and commencement) but I did get in a solid amount of hours. I only played pubs/solo-queue but the game got much more fun once I started playing people in the 40s and 50s that didn't freeze when they saw a tank. I played tanks 95% of the time and I felt like I had a ton of impact on the game, partially because they easily set-up teammates and Rein/Zarya have game-changing ults.

I feel like they did find a successful middle-ground between MOBAs and FPSs, most of the mechanics that people complain about fit into the crux of a character and are good in certain situations. McCree's flashbang was super annoying, but that was mostly because I played tanks that generally have to get within his flashbang range (which is like, 5 feet). Close range seems to be his bread and butter, but he seems kind of bad at medium-range. S76's ult was mostly ineffective to me because I played tanks that could block his ult no problem, I could see how annoying it would be to the squishier characters. Ultimates are called Ultimates for a reason, they are meant to be incredibly impactful.

Mei was a pain, but she seems especially good at killing tanks. Most other characters can out DPS her, and some of the tanks had options to fight her or just escape. It seems most people don't adjust to abilities and mechanics in general, the biggest adjustment I saw was McCrees learning to try and throw a flashbang to explode above Reinhart's shield. Overall I think it is an extremely good game and I would like to starting pugging and looking for a team when the game actually comes out.

Was not the M16 stopping power 1-burst kill pretty strong? Then there was that whole Acog M40 stopping power that was a 1-hit kill no matter where it hit you.

I don't understand that mistake when a team has their roster listed on their team page on ESEA.

aside from the concept of even including hl being sort of laughable (see: b4nny never winning it), harbleu only won hl once all the actual good hl teams quit

Was it S16, S13, or S10 after all the good teams quit, because there were very good teams in all those seasons. B4nny has come in 3rd a couple of times, and I think 2nd at least once.

Sidenote, when did you become this enlightened anti-HL player. After what, 6 seasons of leading teams to absolute failure and being so proud of that weekend tournament you won. Either way it's a game-type in TF2.

Okay, hear me out on this one because it leans heavily on Highlander and I understand the lolhl approach. Even though there is a general dislike of Highlander as a format it still takes a fair amount of skill to actually succeed at, some of the better 6s players tend to have some trouble transitioning back and forth.

I do think that 6s would and should weigh much more heavily, but once we get to that level we have to find other factors to separate people out. I think that top 3, at least for NA because I will readily admit to a lack of knowledge regarding EU players, should be

1. B4nny
2. Harbleu
3. Platinum

I think what places B4nny at the top is not just his continual success, but his continual success across multiple classes. He has done it one Demo, Scout, and Pocket at Top of Invite and possibly top 2 or 3 for each of those role during those seasons.

I believe that Harbleu is second because of his performance on both Medic and Roamer over the seasons of invite that he played, with 1st place in Invite generally being traded back and forth between B4nny and Harbleu teams for many seasons in a row. What puts Harbleu in 2nd over the likes of Platinum, CW, and Enigma is his high level of success in HL generally leading those teams. I was going to put together a terrible article for something I was going to call the "TF2 Triple Crown" to see if anybody has won Invite/Premier, Platinum/Premier Highlander, and an Insomnia Lan in the same season. The only person that I found who did that successfully was Harbleu before I quit doing the research because going through Vanilla.tv's archives made me want to burn down buildings.

Platinum for a lot of the reasons of both, being an insanely good Pocket and Demoman over a long period of time.
