#46 players you think are underrated in TF2 General Discussion

skeez and corsa. I guess these are both strange examples to bring up since they are both well-known invite players, the latter having been an invite player for a while now, but allow me to elaborate.

Beginning with skeez, and all jokes aside, he is actually a fantastic player. I can never tell if some people who don't actually know him are serious about evaluating him as a player based off some joke another invite player made or some asinine frustration that someone in a pug might have. That, or a handful of select moments from one of his less admirable matches. skeez is actually a good medic though (I differentiate this from being a fantastic player because a fantastic player tends to include things like keeping a cool mind), and more importantly, he is someone that doesn't have an ego for the most part while realizing what it takes to improve as a player let alone a medic. It would not surprise me in the slightest that, if he were to keep playing and there was something to play in, he became a truly incredible medic.

As for corsa, let's be real. Regardless of whatever banal conceptions people have towards the way he plays the game, voice or whatever, the guy is dedicated. He has (arguably) been remarkably dedicated ever since and despite being cut from FROYOtech in S21. I don't think most people realize that, in his position, they most likely would have stopped playing TF2 altogether if they were to get cut from (arguably) their dream team mid-season. Not to mention, he is pretty young (either the same age or an year off as skeez/both halfway or so through undergrad) yet somehow more mature in some respects than people in the "top level" of this community who should know better. It's pretty tough to lead/work with a team that for the most part does not have too big of an interest in playing TF2, so hopefully he pulls through this season and has a solid performance in his first, full-fledged invite playoffs appearance (ignoring when he subbed in for FROYO BLK).

#23 players you think are overrated in The Dumpster
-protopamphlet, vand, sigh, waffleb are all terrible

i wanna say freestate too but im hearing hes good this season

This post might have made sense if it came from an invite player or even someone with an ounce of credibility, but I'll bite. What's your deal with sigh in particular? I swear you have a raging hard-on for making posts about him whenever you get the chance, especially since (if I remember correctly) you're the same guy who somehow managed to post on quite a few -bird noises- event threads or whatever about just how rustled you seemed to be by him.

Did he do that spire thing to you in MGE? My sincere apologies on his behalf if so.

#25 EVL medics banned by ESEA in News
BigToeFailw1zardWhat a strange way for invite to die.
For some reason, this comment truly made me shake my head in sadness.

For many of us, Invite is still a place where we expect the highest levels of gameplay and ethics. If indeed true, it's a crying shame that such shenanigans would get pulled at the highest level of a game that needs Invite so much. Still, we continue to look to the players who DO take this seriously to set a good example.

Has invite really been at admirable levels of gameplay and ethics the past couple seasons before this one?

The only difference I see between this season and the past couple seasons would be the whole eight invite teams ordeal and seemingly no-one (EVL Gaming included) being able to contest FROYOtech with FROYO only having dropped ten rounds across five weeks into the season. I guess there is the possibility that current trends would lead to a pretty boring grand final match-up unlike last season where it seemed like RONIN was coming back from the lower bracket or the season before where FROYO did come back from the lower bracket decisively.

Regardless of that outcome, I don't really understand gloom statements like this. We have been at this point of quality for a while now. How do events like this really sink things that much lower to where people find it genuinely worrisome?

#5 Has anyone here every played TFC? in TF2 General Discussion

Yeah, quite a bit. I still play IRC pick-ups (4v4) every two months or so and I think there's a handful of people who actively play them (almost?) daily. If people are interested in watching, probably could drop by #tfc.pickup on QuakeNet or #tfc.invite on GameSurge and ask to watch. Channels look pretty dead for a Saturday night though.

The game was fucking awesome, and pretty much my first source of being exposed to "modding" as well and all sorts of whacky maps. Playing some of Axl's custom TFC maps or just climb (I think they call it kz in CS and maybe other games) maps was pretty awesome outside of organized play in the game.

amplifierworshipTried to play it some with Soapy a couple years ago and got insta killed a lot by people who know how to time nades properly and finally understood why it was removed for TF2.

Hopefully your sample of the game was not purely on a Dustbowl pub or Drippy's 2fort or something. I do agree EMPs/MIRV grenades/frag grenades/nail grenades/concs perhaps made things too chaotic on some maps, but for the most part it was pretty cool on other maps and concs in particular were awesome in my opinion.

#63 your entire time with tf2 in Off Topic

tl;dr Rigel takes 40% heals.

I get stuck on scout.

the teams I had the least faith in somehow ended up better than I expected and the team I had the most faith in somehow ended up worse than I expected. Unfortunate, I guess. Linkuser and boomer are also the greatest players/teammates of all-time for never being tilted/rustled in an annoying way while playing on -bird noises-.
