#1 Twinweapons lft Scout in Recruitment (looking for team)

Hello, I'm Twinweapons

I'm looking for a team next season that will either be high open or IM. I would prefer to play scout, but I can play other classes as well if need be. I have one season of experience and I was a back up for Meat Market in open this past season.

Above is my steam id if you wish to contact me and add me.

Thank you and have a good one!

#118 HRG LAN Fundraiser in TF2 General Discussion

Why do I feel like this is more of a business transaction then a donation. Give us $10 and we will mentor you for a little. Can't I just get a mentor from the mentor section of these forums for free or streams, people like Marxist/Bl4nk/Ruwin who are above my level of play anyways?

How long are you actually planning on mentoring these people that pay money? How can you make it worth it then say someone that actively puts out information and education on the game frequently for free?

My fear is that I donate, I get mentored for like a few hours and then it is over. I may or may not have one of you on my friends list and then probably get deleted later on to add someone else.

I rather have someone that actually wanted to mentor and help me get better than someone that I pay for and then have no interaction with later on. Some people I can become friends with and talk to on a regular basis and play games with.

Tl;dr Unless I can get offered something better then what I can get for free then I see no reason to donate.

I must say I miss that game a lot. If I were to go back to it I would have to stop playing any other games competitively and just play that. It was really fun tho.

#1 Lag in Q/A Help

Recently after that major update my TF2 has been having lag problems. It is only when I play tf2 that when I'm playing every 10 seconds my ping jumps to 500 and my game just freezes. I never had this problem before and I honestly don't know what to do. I have called my internet provider to restart my modem, restarted my router, and restarted my pc.

Other games like killing floor, left 4 dead 2, borderlands co-op, and dota 2 are fine and do not have this issue.

I would kiss him if I met him. Great attitude and one of the nicest guys you will meet. Never gets mad and has the voice of Morgan Freeman. He can narrate anything on the planet. Even his own birth. Will improve and get better and hopefully will move up next time I see him and eventually to the top! Good luck brother.

#121 Who got you into comp TF2? in TF2 General Discussion

A bunch of friends of mine made a community called Hard Ass. Eventually we made our own pub server and we wanted to do a little competitive work to help get word out about our community. So we made a highlander team in Steel and won our first season and came in second place in our next season. After that half the team got tired of highlander and decided to do 6's instead and now we have a huge inhouse pub group that has been going on a while.

Screwball
It didn't work out because your server has no access to quickplay. The vast majority of pub traffic goes though quickplay. I have seen many good public servers with class limits and no random crits/spread that where populated DIE after the quickplay feature was added.

There have always been more players in servers with random crits/ spread/ no class limits. Always will be. Take that out of the default and you see that majority of people that like that find another server that has it or they will find another game. Can't force the majority to play a way they don't like. Just gotta hope we can inform them that there is competitive TF2 and the Highlander method imo is the best way.

ScrewballHeavy buff reverted
random crits disabled by default
wrangler no longer has autoaim
class limits on by default 2 for utilities and 3 for combat classes 2 for demo
class and map tutorials and videos written by members of the competitive scene accessible from the main menu.

I help run a pub server and we tried this originally and it did not and will not ever work. One of the most appealing things to people that are new to the game are the random crits.

Random crits allow for someone that is new and terrible at the game to get a chance of beating someone that is better than them. Without random crits people that have never played a game like TF2 will get beat so badly that they will just quit without giving it a chance.

Ultimately I just think it is best left for highlander. The players will play highlander at first and then move on to sixes like so many players do anyways.

A majority of the community will never play competitive TF2. But this link to Valve with just highlander will get more people interested and hopefully we will see an even bigger community for competitive while getting the news out there that there is indeed competitive TF2.

The only change 6's should see is maps and possibly testing different unlocks.

Personally I feel like they should just change the "start playing" button to "Play Now" and after clicking it give the user the choice between highlander and 6's. Highlander allows one of every class and 6's allows two of every class. Let the picking and banning begin. Keep the utility of making groups in tf2 so you can play with your friends. Also possibly to make it faster to find matches instead of either picking highlander or 6's, have check boxes, similar to dota 2, for 6's and highlander so you can be queued for both. They can support these servers right away by making some of the current valve pub servers ready for this format while also adding more servers.
