If you only play hide and seek in CS, you're not comp CS's target audience.

If you play TDM only in Quake, you're not comp Quake's target audience.

If you aren't interested in comp tf2, then why should we try to get people that don't care to care? It simply won't happen.
It's not "elitism", it's simply knowing whats reasonable. 7 1/2 years down the line, there's no way that tf2 can be the size of CS or LoL.

Valve never intended tf2 as an esport and will never support it. It's a far cry that they would give us MM or any sponsorship whatsoever. The game also has consistently been growing (there are graphs and shit to back this up), so you're wrong there.

Also, you're pretty new, so this "emphasis" on dm that you see might simply be because you don't have much of an understanding of the meta in comp tf2.

If you're not going to gravitate, then you're not really our target audience. We could work on better advertising of comp tf2, but if you don't like it, then no one really cares.

DotA technically was around for 3 years longer than tf2 but it wasn't really an esport for the first few years, it was mostly just a mod that some people ran. I'll include DotA in that list.

So essentially, tf2 is the most prolific esport out of the major ones in history (Quake, all 3 CS's, both DOTA's, LoL, and SC's)

Bigger than the what used to be massive Quake. Is Quake bad because they don't have all these new items?

Also, no other esport has been alive as long as tf2 other than like CS 1.6 and Broodwar.

esea gives like a grace period of 2 days or so for any team with 4/5 payed up and fully pay up. It happens every season but they never advertise it.

Also, invite is different in that no one gives a shit about if they pay by the deadline or not. It's simply irresponsible to wait until before your first game, but thats what most players do. Lead to some issues a while back.
