I prefer shotty because extreme rocket surfing is less inevitable. With gunboats you always run out of rockets and are forced to dance around and surf a ton. But ofc shotty can also lead to shotgun denying and other annoying behaviors, but if theres good sportsmanship usually people don't do that.

Aim at the person who you think is weaker/losing, because if you want both frags, you need to kill that person before the winning player does. Once you kill the weak player (hopefully with a 5dmg shot) you get the buff and can frag both of them.
