guy who was gonna drive to valve

can anyone find the thread/poster from a couple years back, before MyM came out.
He was dead set on talking valve into giving us competetive, and posted about his plan to drive to valve offices in seattle. I think he ended up making it there but getting turned away at the door? He may have also requested donations to fund his pilgrimage?
Any help would be great, thanks.
