I dont have a problem upgrading my gpu I just thought it was weird that i was told my gpu needed upgrading first

ive been looking to upgrade and im looking for a second opinion. its been a while since i followed computer parts and what my friend told me sounded like bs.
id like to run at 144 frames so i can get a new monitor. in overwatch i usually cap around 70 but it can drop

mobo-i think an msi motherboard from like 2011 or 2012
gfx - evga 950
ram - 8gb ddr3

my friend told me i would need to upgrade my graphics first. this annoyed me because i just got it last year when my old 560 burnt out. i always figured that since my mobo and cpu is as old as dirt i would need to upgrade those first. what should i do tftv

Tf2: going to gxl. I didn't know anyone, and i didnt even have formal 6s exp at the time. I showed up and hoped i could find a team for the tourney. I met cool people (lightning command REPRESENT) and had a great time. Unfortunately my new job doesn't let me get weekends off so unless there's a lan in Houston I can't do much.

Non tf2: philmont scout ranch. This exceeded all my expectations. When the road got flooded and we had to take an extremely dangerous side route, when we had to climb across a field of jagged rocks at one of the highest points in the area during a thunderstorm, playing cards around a campfire. It was all so amazing. Our route was just over 100 miles. I was on point. The first day I had a lot of trouble with the elevation but by the end everyone has had trouble keeping up with me. It is absolutely something i will never forget.

This is also a great work, and probably the most accessible of his. If you haven't read zero I would recommend it but there's a lot of convoluted math puzzles the mc has to figure out that gets a little annoying from a reader standpoint.

I recommended akagi because i enjoyed it a lot more. Kaiji is probably more accessible but why wouldn't i recommend a show I liked better. Plus then you can go read tenhou-doori which is the best work fkmt has made bar none.

Try princess tutu. The title is kind of girly but it's a fairytale type drama. The 4 main characters are assigned roles from an existing book and are forced to play out the story, even if they already know what is supposed to happen to the characters.
