There was a huge controversy about 20 years ago in Korea where bacterial growth in humidifier filters would somehow develop potentially deadly strains and there were actually hundreds of infant deaths, who are more susceptible to the diseases, attributed to improper humidifier usage e.g. not changing filters regularly, etc.
I don't know where I'm going with this.
