#80 Faceit news post about matchmaking algorithm in TF2 General Discussion
GentlemanJonSilverToasterb4nny has clearly stated that he wants what he wants for the best of the community and not because he wants to "shit on" the other pug services. I mean b4nny's incredibly cold about it and arguably disrespectful, but that has nothing to do with his argument.I don't understand how offending a FaceIt tournament admin who was privately helping promotional efforts both with b4nny and others works in the favour of competitive TF2. The excuse simply doesn't work.

Now I'm pretty sure you're mixing up means and consequences on purpose, but if you're not are you saying that erynn's support outweighs 300+ more people playing on faceit?

I'm not saying I don't agree with you just yet, just trying to understand what the logical message is from your modern-style argument.

MouldI'm actually decent at the game and struggle to ever get picked unless there's nobody else to be picked

But, just because faceit joined our community, it doesn't mean people should shit on the ones that got us to this stage tbh

YeeHawerynn in eu faceit cup thread Pugchamp is an opensource project that provides a pug platform for anyone to set up and use. Faceit is a company that is showing interest in tf2 for whatever reason and may have the ability to facilitate league play in the future. They also have a shit ton of money.

I guess it is ironic but at the end of the day, pugchamps code base has always been available to use and we don't see ourselves as 'the competition' to any tf2 pug or lobby site (we actually don't make any money at all). So if companies like razer and Faceit come and go, there will always be something that the community can use.

So sign up. I am reaching out to potential sponsors to get more prizes but I may have to bite the bullet and buy some keys to beef up the prize pool.

That basically means "if you want to ditch pugchamp that's fine" and "if you ever need to remake pugchamp you can use the source code".

Good guy erynn saving the day.

#6 Resolution in Q/A Help
KorzenDoes changing resolution to something lower increase frames?

Going from 1080p to 1440p didn't have any major impact on my fps.

PoliphobiaI have a question about resolution as well: Does changing your resolution from 16:9 to 4:3 affect your sensitivity in any way?

In some games it would, but I don't think it that's the case for tf2.

#25 Microsoft Surface Studio in Hardware
JarateKingFirei dont (want to) believe that the majority of designers are using mac because of the mac cases (or hardware in general ...) , but because of the software. i believe that few will make the change to the surface, but it might make windows more attractive for newcomers.I'm not a designer, but I don't really know if that's the case. Windows is very intuitive to use as it is (as much as mac users like to talk shit, I don't know anyone who switched to windows from mac and found it hard) and for the sake of design software, offers basically everything a mac does (there is some mac exclusive software but all the major industry standards I know (adobe tools, fontlab studio) and their free alternatives (gimp, fontforge) supports windows). For that matter the art school my friend goes to has this dumb rule where they need to buy macs, but then go bootcamp them to windows because some software they use is windows exclusive (while nothing's mac exclusive).

I think it's entirely because Apple has specs for designers and designers who usually aren't technical don't have to deal with all picking between the different hardware options windows computers have. That and the status quo, art schools tend to have their people trained in using macs by convention (historically better for graphics, look nicer), so art students tend to learn macs, so the industry usually uses macs unless they have a reason not to.

It's hard to break an industry standard but it looks like the surface studio will address all of that, if it's done well I do think it'd get adopted by art schools and if anything it should be even easier to use with accessibility tools like that dial thing.

I know some very tech savvy artists who use mac because of the operative system. Pretty sure that's what fire meant by "software".

#158 The State of TF2, Post-Valve Meetings in TF2 General Discussion
mousiopeSo mrslin you say "The competitive game itself is in a better place now than ever before. We finally have developer support!"
Then you say
"1) They're not looking to contribute to our version of competitive 6v6 TF2. They're making their own version.
2) They're not trying to control our game -- they're creating their own game mode and they're not shutting us down.
3) They don't need to communicate with us since they're not trying to work on our game mode."
What have they actually done ingame to help our competitive scene ? Besides fixing some map stuff like stairs clipping ?
On this bridge that your creating are you representing valve or the competitive community ? Because you keep telling ppl they´re wrong yet you contradict yourself more than once, and most people seem to disagree with you, i don´t get it

I see where you're coming from, and I agree with you that valve developing their own scene is aids, but that doesn't change that there is a comp scene in tf2 that is bigger than ever before.

OUR scene isn't growing, but A tf2 scene is growing, that's probably what you don't understand about what slin's saying.
