the gap between newbie mix teams and ugc teams is pretty clear to be honest. they grow much quicker than ugc teams. i can safely assume most open newbie mix teams are far better than ugc steel teams.

you're not far from newbie mixes if you're lft low open. if you think you're talented and wish to improve, get in a newbie mix team and they will shape you up really quickly.

seriously, don't be fooled by the word "newbie", it's not noobs and bad players, they all have some starting point which you're not far from.
newbie mix teams develop super fast and in a really tight and serious environment, it's probably the best place to learn and improve. plus you get a big dick mentor for free.
