#10337 stream highlights in Videos

does anyone have the stream clip that got like 200 upfrags of the guy on an orange server who gets the most insane direct hit airshot ever on an invisible spy?

#62 What do you wish you had realized/learned sooner? in TF2 General Discussion

Most people in competitive tf2 (especially snipers) who claim that they heard you around a corner solely by the sound of your footsteps are cheating. Most people just don't hear that shit through other ingame sounds and mumble comms. Some do but most don't.

#6 Weird problem with CFG's in Q/A Help
Pizzza-blyatsimple fix: rename scout_c.cfg (and any affected class cfgs) to scout.cfg
better fix: find out why they're called scout_c.cfg etc, report back
either way pls dump scout.cfg if it exists (if it doesnt, either create it and add "exec scout_c" to scout.cfg or rename scout_c like above)
(also before anyone says, if you exec a .cfg u dont need to include the .cfg extension. i think u can exec any file as exec by supplying an extension but i havent tested, only came up with the idea when i saw lowspecgamers doom eternal vid)

2nd also: refactor your configs so you have your null movement and sens and stuff in autoexec or reset so you only exec them once (and therefore only have to change them once should you want to) (you might want to look into scripting more if you dont know how to do that)

thank you for the advice. I will try this. Somewhere I could have absolutely sworn that the thing to do now was calling them scout_c or pyro_c or engineer_c rather than the normal classname.cfg. I haven't played in a very long time but I definitely remember this being a thing some point relatively recently like a year ago.

Yeah I know that the null movement stuff should be in an autoexec but I made all these cfg's in like 2014 and by the time I knew that it should just go in an autoexec it didn't matter to me because that's never really caused me any problems so I never bothered to do that,

#1 Weird problem with CFG's in Q/A Help

I've been having a weird problem with my CFG's. When I join a game I can't do anything at all until I open console and do "exec scout_c" (or whatever class I'm spawned as) before I can play the game. Even when I am playing and I change class to sniper (where my CFG gives me different viewmodel settings) the settings will not take effect until i exec my sniper_c.cfg in the console. I'm pretty confused by this and I don't know if anyone else has had this problem. I also use brossel's crosshair switcher if that's relevant.

https://pastebin.com/mgqdF9Bw here's my scout cfg if it matters, all my class cfg's look exactly like this with the exception of the viewmodels at the very top, which are enabled for some classes and disabled for others.

I'm just glad that the Democratic Party Nominee for President of the United States (Joseph Robinette Biden) has been a visible and forceful figure throughout this process, and has not been hidden by his aides the whole time. When the incumbent grossly mishandles a crisis, it's obviously crucial that his challenger in November present himself as a vigorous, active, and salient alternative to the status quo. So glad that Joseph has been doing that!

mustardoverlordSpeaking of historical stuff, it's important to note that anyone who thinks the 1972 election is somehow more relevant to 2020 than the 2016 election is a moron

The amount that has changed in terms of the racial demographics of this country, the extreme increase in wealth inequality after the past 50 years of neoliberal consensus, the fact that Nixon was actually a POPULAR incumbent, the fact that Nixon won over 50% of under-30 voters, the Thomas Eagleton debacle, the way the Democrats and the labor movement basically fucked McGovern over in order to win down-ballot, etc.

Which is to say, boomers are just taking the experiences of their youth and universalizing it, and the media is egging them on in order to push this bullshit 'electability' canard

Yeah, the problem is that my parents (and lots of others) still suffer from McGovern PTSD. The first election they ever voted in was 1972, they were solidly left at the time and voted McGovern, and he lost 49 states. Then the first dem to ever get elected after Johnson was Carter, who was a conspicuous pivot to the center and who basically catalyzed the neoliberal consensus. Of course, Carter only had four years and most of it was ineffectual. The first Democrat to actually get re-elected in the centrist lib boomer lifetime was somebody who by 1996 was literally just a moderate Republican. The country has changed so much, but they can't get it through their skulls that it isn't 1996 anymore.

Hi so I hate Biden but this post is mostly historical bunk:

Jackson would’ve gotten absolutely shitstomped by Bush in 1988, no question. His base was insanely narrow on the general election scale. Dukakis was definitely the better electoral choice there, he was up by a lot (granted the commonly cited 17 points figure is exaggerated because it was only one poll taken over a very brief span of time) and easily could’ve won had he not made so many retarded decisions. Dukakis triangulating his rhetoric right on criminal justice (which Clinton did in 1992, and to great effect) and not doing the tank ad absolutely could've beaten Bush. Jackson never, ever would've.

McGovern was supported by a few people as a prospective nominee in 1968 and briefly stood in for RFK (who had been killed) at the convention in Chicago, but he didn’t win (or even run in) a single primary. I assume whoever wrote this was thinking about Eugene McCarthy???? Anyways, it’s worth noting that the only issue on which McCarthy was more liberal than Humphrey was the war; Humphrey was a very staunch supporter of a big welfare state and so was McCarthy. The notion of McCarthy doing better than Humphrey in the general incredibly specious, he had much less support among blacks and older people than Humphrey and wasn’t very popular with organized labor. Going back to McGovern, he of course would run four years later on the most solidly liberal platform of any Democrat in the history of the party and lost 49 states. But nobody back then really considered Humphrey a "moderate." He was from Minnesota and derided pretty viciously by the more conservative and genuinely moderate members of his own party for calling himself a liberal, even as it was becoming more unfashionable to do so. He was actually more outspoken on racial issues than McCarthy, who was singlemindedly focused on the war (which is why he did so horribly among black voters in the primary). Even on the war, the one issue on which he wasn't as left as McCarthy, he spoke out directly against the war more than a month before the election when he freed himself from LBJ's grip. At the end of the day, though, he was in a bind. He couldn't win the nomination by being outspoken against the war because he needed backroom support from party bosses to win delegates without running in the primary, but that meant he lost young voters who despised him as a fixture of the Johnson administration and refused to vote for him in the general even after he pivoted to what he really believed, which was that the war needed to end. Nonetheless, he was objectively the preferable candidate to McCarthy on a strategic level.

Humphrey very nearly won the election through overwhelming black and union support in key states and would’ve actually pulled it off if Nixon hadn’t committed treason and destroyed the peace talks. I seriously doubt McCarthy could’ve been able to get that close to winning. What McCarthy had in support from young whites, he lacked in support from every other important demographic. There's a reason McCarthy got absolutely butchered in the California primary. That said, the clear ideal candidate in that race was RFK.

I agree about 2004. Bush's campaign was privately scared of Dean, much more so than Kerry. The dems thought nominating a war vet was somehow the right strategy and Rove clearly proved them badly wrong.

Anybody considering not showing up to the ballot box on November 3rd should at least consider that there exists a real opportunity to flip the senate. Gardener is toast in Colorado. Collins is fighting for her life in Maine. McSally is polling below Kelly in Arizona. Steve Bullock, the very popular former governor of Montana, is running for Senate there as well.

Even if Trump wins again, a dem senate and house render him absolutely nullified except on foreign policy. No more judges. He's a lame duck. Even if you despise Joe Biden and obstinately refuse to vote for him, I implore you to consider voting down-ballot to make McConnell useless.

#56 Tagg: Why I "Quit" TF2 in Videos
OmbrackMaybe I'm not the audience for that video, but my reaction after this video was : "so what ?"
Most of what he talks about in this video is, idk, irrelevant i feel like. This ain't to say that what happened to him his pointless, or that his experience with TF2 and its backstage are nothing, but the things he talked about the most are the less interesting to me.

He disliked the new meta ? Ok ? And ? There are many things in life that change, and you can like the change, adapt to the change or dislike them, there's no harm in it.

He paid out of his own pocket for events ? So did everyone. He was in negative after events ? So was everyone. I've attended a lot of lans, either in my country or abroad, both as players and staff, and not once I've been winning money at the end of it. Not once. I don't see many people in day-to-day life who make money out of their passion/hobby. Yes, most of what staff does on event requires a lot of work and dedication, and I'll always say staff doesnt get the light it should, but still, but you aren't forced to do it, and the skills you developped in that volunteering can serve toward academic/professional progression.

The things that he talked about that are actually important, I believe, he only briefly goes through them, as to not "cancel anyone". If people are acting like dicks, wouldn't it be better to actually speak loud about them rather than just touch it with the tip of your finger ? At this point, we all know who the bigh shot producer is, of course, but I sense a misbalance of what actually matters and stuff that are pretty basic.

Again, I'm probably not the audience for that video, as I don't watch his stream, don't follow him whatsoever, but for a 40 minutes long video, I expected to go out from it with more than I do.

I see what you’re saying but I also don’t think the primary purpose of the video was to create a trenchant or incisive commentary about anything within TF2 more broadly. Tagg was a big name player who quit the game and was inundated with requests either to play it again when he didn’t want to, or from people who kept asking him why he left in the first place. This is that explanation. The reason I don’t think it makes any sense for him to call out people by name in the video is because that isn’t the purpose of the video at all. It’s a personal explanation as to why he quit so that other people can understand. I think requesting that he call out those people and start more drama would just bring him back into the toxic mess he spent forty minutes explaining that he wanted to leave.

The only thing that matters is that tagg explained they situation as he personally saw fit to do, and that’s exactly what he did.

Seconded. How could adding new items to the game fuck with the unusual drop rate? Is TF2's code so spaghetti-like that we're not even going to find out?

mustardoverlordplusProtonScandinavia is still very capitalist lol, they just have a functioning safety net

(Tip: social democracy /=/ socialism)

Also

Please dont take my hats man

Not to derail this thread too much but it depends on how you look at it (as well as which country in Scandinavia you are talking about)

It is simultaneously true that Americans overestimate what counts as “socialism”, but also underestimate facets of the Nordic countries that go beyond a mere welfare state

See: http://mattbruenig.com/2017/07/28/nordic-socialism-is-realer-than-you-think/ for a good read on the topic

Besides, in a strictly Marxist sense (although the term obviously predates Marx) socialism is only supposed to be a transitional form of government (one that no modern society has fully moved past) so it makes sense that it’s hard to establish an agreed upon definition, with some dwelling on any government nationalization and others holding out for true collective control of the economy

Anyways back to the hat game

omg someone else in tf2 who reads Bruenig im so happy
