Long term investment and back up if they need to cut n0thing, sgares or freak if he doesn't perform. By doing this they're limiting the amount of free agents available that could, in the future/after unbanning, form a team and be a major threat to them. C9 is probably the best team in north america again with these changes and I imagine they'd like to win something after months of going out in groups and paying insane sums for player acquisition and salaries. Those salaries were increased again so they wouldn't be tempted to leave the C9 org and form a potentially stronger team with other players.
