#166 Player skill rating added to the game in TF2 General Discussion

yeah pyro really seems like they threw a bunch of ideas at a class, without any real vision. airblast reduces movement and makes kills easier to get, which people hate and isnt even needed in tf2, respectively. and reflects are really swingy, and pretty much only counter 2 classes, leaving the pyro crappy against most of the other ones.

I am somewhere around 5.5 k (5k at least). But mmr is broken right now, so i am only 3k.

komorebiRadmanqoski pretty much agree with all of this, except for reflects. Do you really find reflects to be all that random or easy?
(except more rewarding because for some mind-numbing reason reflects do minicrit damage)

Like i said, because the soldier has to actually feed the pyro a rocket, which soldiers are often smart enough to avoid.

I agree that in close range there is an element of randomness, however it feels more like playing mindgames than anything. Really good pyros can hit those reflects more consistently than mediocre ones, just how hitting certain airshots or stickies is technically random, but better players predict actions more consistently.

At range its a bit easier. You have to aim a rocket, which is actually really easy. But its a lot harder to actually get a soldier to feed you a rocket.

pokemonizepicLike the bkb change, now you have to think when using your charges

As opposed to before, when you wanted more charges you just spend another ez 4k gold.

It is actually impossible to KO a player if youre not gonna jump off the stage after them (unless you're at more than 125% or something). Not sure how i feel about that, people have been saying it makes edgeguarding game more fun.

Khakino matter what nintendo does, no one will ever make a better game than melee

Suggesting that nintendo somehow happened upon the perfect formula for a fighting game 10 years ago is pretty dumb.

wonderlandit just gives you less incentive to take a shot in sniper 1v1s. it was already bad enough where no one wanted to shoot cause you're most likely instantly dead after.

TwistedI guess people will have to learn how to hit second scopers when they shoot first.

I mean I'm not saying "hurr durr itz so ez 2 counter second scoping" but rather that it might be about time people just directly deal with it without using an equally cheap tactic?

Yeah this sounds like the person who scopes first has to be the better player as well. As we know, in a high level environment its not longer a skill-issue, its an imbalance.

Plus, in tf2, i feel like you need to reward players who are initiating fights, since it is generally easier to defend.

#54 TF2 Update - 8.27.14 in TF2 General Discussion

Is this really a good change though?

i hope everyone knows how lame it is to go against a second scoper. This just gives less of an advantage the sniper who took initiative. Less advantage for initiative = passive, stalematey play.
