#37 Questions for video editors in TF2 General Discussion
RawrSpoonI don't like frame blending or motion blur. It makes tracking in mocha so much more difficult, and makes it pretty much impossible to 3D solve a scene

Also Czar, most frame blending plugins are to put intermediate frames for extreme slow motion. Twixtor is an example of this. Scrdemo2, on the other hand, compresses many frames into a singular frame. The result looks great while playing, but individual frames are blurry and scene analysis plugins struggle.

This is why I stopped using SrcDemo2. I could get a better motion blur from Vegas, and I could toggle resample on or off. If I want to I can put my raw 480 FPS video in after effects, do all my motion graphics/tracking, then export it at 480 FPS and have Vegas frame blend the whole thing(or turn frame blending off depending on what I want).

#34 Questions for video editors in TF2 General Discussion

I have a 1 TB 7200 RPM drive I use for recording everything. If you don't have that or can't afford it, then I would suggest using SrcDemo2 to frameblend as you record. You can export at 30 FPS .png files. It doesn't look as good as Vegas frame blending, but it is a nice compromise for those who don't have the space to record high FPS .tga sequences.

You also get the same file size regardless of 120 FPS or 12000 FPS.

CzarOfTheSkyeProwerYou clearly have never heard of resampling.
yea you could do that, though i asume that he wants to record all of the clips at the same fps.

If you know you're gonna end up slowing down the clip and not using motion blur, then you can probably be fine with 120 FPS, but I record everything at 480 FPS just in case I change my mind.

#42 ALMIE'S RECORDING TOOL (ALPHA, WORKS WITH STEAMPIP in TF2 General Discussion

Netgraph and text chat persist even in Killfeed Only mode.

I had to manually disable them when the game launched.

#10 Fraps in TF2 General Discussion
jp_use msi afterburner.

Dxtory is free?

I had better results with UT video RGB over the YUV422.

YUV 422 gives the best performance/file size ration on Ut, and since Youtube converts to YUV 420 there is no need to output RGB.

Dxtory isn't free, but I highly recommend buying it.

#8 Fraps in TF2 General Discussion

Don't buy fraps...get dxtory or mirillis action. Both allow you to record at a different FPS than you play at, so you can play at 131 FPS while recording at 30 FPS.

Action is easier to setup, but if you go with Dxtory use the Ut YUV 422 codec(have to download it separately)

#66 the state of tf2mix in TF2 General Discussion
reillyProwermorning_foxThe big problems with tf2mix is the captains have no idea who their picking so either team almost always roll 5-0. Or the people scramble till they play with their friends then go and play tf2lobby.
What if I don't enjoy playing with carries all the time? I wanna pick people I enjoy playing with who are good, but if a carry is just annoying, I don't want to pick them, and people shouldn't feel obligated to.

I think it would be nice to just split tf2mix into two IRCs. One with the captains and the other with the normal gametype. That would also give freedom to update the bot similar to pug.na. I know people could just go to pug.na but suffer frequent fatkidding.

The point of captaining is to commit to creating the most balanced teams you can. I don't mean this rudely, but if that's not what you're trying to do when captaining, you probably shouldn't be captaining.

If you want to play with your friends, that's fine, you can still pick them. However, if they aren't a "carry", you shouldn't be making them one of your first picks, because you are imbalancing the teams, and your friend should still be there after the first round of picks anyways. I've seen so many captains lately outright ignore 2-3 potential first picks, and they all end up on the same team.

There is a difference between plain bad picks and picking carries who don't play with the team and act like complete idiots forcing their team to get rolled. There is no point in picking a carry if they are going to throw the game which a lot of them do, yet people continue to encourage this behavior and then complain that people make bad picks.

It seems a lot of people interpreted my post as doing friend picks. That's not the case.

hookyYou don't need 60 fps on a stream, 45 or 50 is fine.

Also I thought Slin had an i5. I know he streamed at 720p60 forever.

You don't need it, but once you experience it, you never want to go back.

My i5-2500k GTX 570 rig could stream 720p60 with my framerate dipping below 60 FPS a little bit. In a non-FPS game, I could see myself getting used to that, but with TF2, I can't have my framerate that low.

770 is for gaming, and an i5-2500k will not get you 720p60 streaming. Also if you get a recent i7 you might be able to take advantage of quick sync.

Nvidia being better than AMD is a myth. The 7970 out performs the 670.
You do not need an i7 CPU for streaming/gaming/browsing.

Just gonna point out that Emma's build uses a GTX 770, which outperforms the 7970 slightly.

#11 7/12/13 Update in TF2 General Discussion
RockkkkkkkYeah, the only way badlands window is going to get changed is if the community gets up in arms in emails and on the official forums. Complaining about it on here won't do anything.

They already responded and said they wanna see how it works out before changing it back...
