#113 How did you come up with your name in Off Topic

Have always had a thing for knights and gallantry and that sort of thing so I started out as The Corpse of Chivalry(Cause chivalry is dead get it hahahaha), then after a while realized how silly it sounded and changed to Sir Nicholaus for a year or 2. Then I dropped the "Sir" because I thought it sounded a little snobby. Then I decided I liked simple, short names and went to Nick, then found out about another player who just goes by Nick and dropped the c to currently be "Nik" because 2edgy.

#220 Ninox Aurora in Hardware

Coming from a Razer Taipan, I'm loving this mouse. My only 2 complaints are the M1 getting stuck for a fraction of a second if I press it too hard or for a prolonged period of time, such as playing medic without the autoheal thing, and that my mousewheel started to become squeaky after a few weeks of use. Like it needs some WD-40 or something.

Other than those issues, which sound a little rare from what I hear here, I recommend it!

#82 Dirty Bomb Beta in Other Games

After playing for about an hour, my first impressions are that I enjoy the game. The characters can take enough damage that you can still turn on an opponent that has gotten the drop on you, but aren't bullet sponges(except maybe Rhino). My complaints from what I've seen so far though is that the majority of the character silhouettes all look samey, and that the support characters should have differing secondary abilities. That they all have defibs makes the ability itself not that special. Also the fact that you have to have your loadouts locked into a *set* is a bit lame, but I'll have to put more time into the game to decide how I feel about it ultimately.

Also nobody revives anyone in pubs. >:(

#21 Any JRPG fans in the house? in Other Games

This thread reminded me that I need to install the translated version of Mother and play through that and Earthbound.
And speaking of Star Ocean, if you feel like it, get a PS1 emulator and try out Star Ocean: The Second Story. Pretty much the same as how Kirby described Til' the End of Time; slow at first, but by end game it's outstanding.
Another good PS1 JRPG was The Legend of Dragoon. It's turned based typical early FF style combat, but it has this neat timing/combo mechanic to spice up the combat. Very lengthy story and secret bosses 'n shit.

Also Golden Sun for the GBA. Too much of my childhood spent on that and its sequel, The Lost Age.

#20 steam broadcasting in Off Topic

For some reason, opting into the steam beta has caused me to be unable to even get past the main menu of TF2. Everything else works perfectly fine but TF2. Hopefully it'll work itself out soon.
The broadcasting service itself is really nice. Hopefully they'll implement custom bitrate and resolution options eventually.

#1215 GXL LAN Fall 2014 in News

Got back home and passed out, so here I am writing this super late/early

This was my first LAN, and by god was it the best time I've had all year.
Getting to sit down and actually talk with real people about this game I've been playing for years was just a great experience.
And getting to sit down and have a conversation with people from the 4 Invite teams that I look up to and had admittedly kind of put up on a pedestal, just to realize they're regular dudes who play video games and hang out was neat.
Staying up late and watching videos on the TV with Taggs laptop with everyone was probably one of the highlights of the trip. Watching budsquad videos with half of budsquad in the room was a surreal experience. :P

At the end of the day, my legs and arms hurt, my pc was damaged because I'm dumb and flew with it, and I can't wait to do it all again next year. If you even thought about going this year and didn't, make sure you do next year.

Colossal shoutouts to TheFragile :3 for being the engine driving this whole thing.
Dashner, Lange, eXtine, Kappy, truktruk and the rest of the production crew for nailing it all weekend. Getawhale, Gecks, Tagg, and Seanbud for casting the games and each bringing their own personal spin on it.
PinKushin, Moejoe, Sezco, Auzzie, Buick and Alfa for just being great guys and helping me out.
And many more whom I'm sure I've forgotten to mention!

I didn't take many photos, but I'll upload what I did get soon. In the meantime, I leave you with this.

#1106 GXL LAN Fall 2014 in News

Hey, just wondering if anyone could possibly give me a ride to the airport at around 8am on monday morning. My flight leaves at 9:45am. If you can, just send me a message on here, on steam, or find me at the venue. I'm right behind froyotech, "Nik".

Thanks in advance!

#907 GXL LAN Fall 2014 in News

Alright guys n' gals. I'll be arriving tomorrow at about 5 or so. Going to be splitting a room with someone at the Hampton. I'll be bringing my rig and a 144hz monitor in addition to the usual peripherals. Any tips on packing a monitor for flight?

PlatinumI get into the airport around 445 Thursday. Anyone arriving at the same time want to share a cab or something?

This offer still standing? I'd be happy to split costs wherever I can.

Depending on if I split a room with someone via eXtine, or if I sleep at the venue, I'll either be arriving thursday afternoon to go to the hotel, or thursday night/friday morning to get into the venue early to sleep.

If I could get a ride, that would be great. If not, does anyone have any idea if Uber is good or not?

BenkWorst case just sleep in your car or in the expo center. Nobody cares at these things.

I hadn't thought of sleeping at the center. Damn, I feel dumb.
Does anyone know if there's a way you can upgrade your already purchased ticket? I'd like to get the premature LANer package if possible.

eXtineNicholausHey guys, sorry to say, but I don't think I'll be able to go. I just don't have the money for everything, unless someone wanted to split hotel costs with me, which I doubt will happen at this point.

Otherwise I'll just have to transfer my ticket to someone, as soon as I figure out how.

So splitting a hotel room is all you need? Send me a pm Yao or eXtine@eXtelevision.com
lets talk.

Sent you an e-mail response!
