#86 Highlander pick/ban system in TF2 General Discussion

Each player in the class they play gets 1 ban per weapon class. The exceptions could be spy sappers (only 2) and maybe Spy watches (only 3). Everything else has plenty of viable alternatives to play with IMHO.
ex. I'm a scout so I can ban one primary, one secondary, and a melee. My opponent will do the same.

#147 Invite Player Rule lifting- made any difference? in TF2 General Discussion

I call them auxiliaries for a reason, but the "fact" is calling a scout better than a pyro is just flat out wrong no matter how you spin it. The current meta may be that scouts/soldier/demo dominate, but that can be wiped away in a flash.
ie. Warmfront middle at lan? Gpit Ironman? good examples of a main heavy.
I'm not saying you're wrong in saying the there are reasons the current meta exist, but just a bit overzealous with your caps and demonizing of other classes.

I don't even know why we're even this far off-topic. Let this thread die plz. I now regret even posting. That said, I stand by what I said.

#141 Invite Player Rule lifting- made any difference? in TF2 General Discussion

If by "do work" you mean get points/frags or do tons of damage remember that this game is team fortress and that's only half the game. To compaire to 6's for you, roamers don't always top frag.(got ninja'd) So yeah...the fragging classes will get frags. What everyone here defending HL is trying to say and I guess I'm going to reiterate is every class has a place in highlander and can contribute.
At the high levels you do see work done by all classes. Who saw cbear pressure the med and force uber like twice on swiftwater? If your auxiliaries (as I call them) are not doing work your teamwork needs adjusting.
How can you put points to a blocked uber by airblast? Does a spy need 3 points for an uber drop? Quantifying scores by any metric damage/frags/blowjobs is not really how highlander at least is played. It's who wins and who has fun.

#11 Weekly Matches in Site Discussion

It's great to see this maintained thus far, but I have a few suggestions.

Can you make it so that all upcoming events show with a sorting option for highlander and 6's to break it into manageable chunks for easier reading/browsing? Also, maybe place past events into it's own "page."
Keep up the great work.

#47 Faster maps? 3-CP? in Map Discussion
brownymasterTesting maps is a subjective process. It can never be objective, nor should it. There is always an inherent bias against new maps (generally speaking, people are confused by a map and will dislike these confusions.) It's all on the mapper, as the people will only play the map so many times before never wanting to play it again, improved or not.

Pretty sure it can be both, and objectivity results in the mapper being able to pinpoint problems quickly. Both have merit, but subjectivity can fall quickly into "I just don't like this area, it make me mad because I died here once."

If I was making a pub map I would be well open to subjective criticism. ex. "This area of the map makes me confused." Whereas, if it were objective criticism you'd see better results and move past petty stuff like learning the layout and into more desired criticism. ex. "the sniper class has a sight line he can exploit fully here." I know that sounds posh, but I exaggerate for clarity.

...and now we're well off topic.

#39 Faster maps? 3-CP? in Map Discussion

Star held a koth contest recently that got very little publicity after people put a good bit of time into some of those maps. The community talks but just doesn't want to do the work of testing new maps objectively.

Here is mine for a shameless plug.

#31 Faster maps? 3-CP? in Map Discussion

A lot of the competitive community is not very receptive to ANY map changes. I don't count myself among them but never-the-less it is a good majority.

I had a 3cp idea long ago, but as a map maker struggled to find a design I thought would stick. I gave up really. I'd invite any ideas to an concept. I'd be interested in making it a reality if it had potential.

While I do get bored watching tf2 granary yard for the millionth time. I think it has a bit to do with how it is approached. I hate to criticize you sal, as I don't really have any base upon which to do so. The only advice I can really give is to look at established casters in all sports and try to bring that to tf2. I do enjoy TotalBiscuit style of casting even if I don't always agree with some of his provocative stances. He has in the past given solid advice to other casters.

Each game must have something at stake and hype to bring views. I would say (for comparison) football games go for at least an hour and don't suffer viewership due to length. The games have plenty of lead up to the contest and this allows the hype to build. Overloading content of average quality won't bring larger viewership imho.

#62 wrangler in highlander in TF2 General Discussion

Your team did really well having 9 up and in position at the choke.

That said, I figured while I was watching I'd compare your demo to engie. (because the camera work was kinda bad)
piggy had 10 kills, 3 assist, 3 sentry, 1 disp, and 1 tellie destroyed
redman had 3 wrangler kills, 4 assist, 4 kills unwrangled and 1 sentry destroyed

I just tracked until the triple backstab. Sal was tabbing so these numbers while close could be off.

I applaud you (in no way being sarcastic) for using the wrangler as it should be used, and basing a strat on it. I don't see how ubering a scout in was targeted at taking down the wrangler.

49. Look, I got it you don't like the wrangler. You can keep the snark, and you'll actually come out with a better argument.

I guess I asked for this when I answered sdoggs hypothetical question.

While I'm at it. I find little argument when such hard counters to the wrangler exist: spy sapper, spy backstab, sniper rifle, soldier direct hit, and demo stickeys. All require minimal effort to strategize and employ as a team.

DouglasBut does the heavy have a rocket launcher, minigun, and aim assist when he's holding the FoS?NakedapeI'm not saying that's proof that [the] wrangler isn't hard to take down.

Again, I'm not saying wrangler isn't badass. It is. It's just not off the walls op as described itt.

The buffed heavy with fos can take 630 dmg. Which is only 10 less than what you posted earlier. I'm not saying that's proof that wrangler isn't hard to take down. Just that the hp sink can be approximately matched.
The area denial potential is amazing, but not without hard counters. While I do think that the wrangler has considerable advantages over stock engineer, I don't consider it overpowered when compared to most other unlocks.

#1 New UGC ban list in TF2 General Discussion

http://www.ugcleague.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12273

Mixing up the meta with the vita ban.
Putting medics back in their place. Building in the back.

Pyro has a shotgun flaregun.

Any other thoughts?
