I used to have a problem like this and it turned out that my Wi-Fi adapter inside my machine was busted so I got this little dongle thing called GWF-4B06 Ralink RT5572 and it worked fine.

Decent Old School FPS games?

kirbyTimesplitters if you're fine with a super fun singleplayer/lan multiplayer FPS.
Take that but times it by two. Add a better singleplayer, polish multiplayer, better online/offline functions, and better looking graphics (for the time). You get Timesplitters 2.
