Save your money and spend it on hats.
On a more serious note, I've found that the only real difference in terms of quality with these two games is whether or not you prefer sci-fi or fantasy. They're both amazingly good and whichever one you pick will provide you with hours of enjoyment.

Valve made TF2 as a public-servers join and go type of game. When it comes to TF2, they do not support competitive play period

Actually given the audience this could reach if done at the right time that's a crazy good deal in the advertising world. 10,000 views for you average banner ad online costs a bit over 100 dollars, and people probably will pay just as little attention to it as to tf2 ring notifications. Compare that to almost x5 the views at the same price and it sounds like a pretty good deal.

Best location for NA tf2 lan.

Philly would be best for me, since it's within driving distance and has a largish airport.
However somewhere in the midwest would probably be best for everyone all across NA. Chicago would probably be best but it would also be crazy expensive. Indy is pretty much in the same place as Chicago and is far cheaper. I think it would be the best choice.
