#11 Friday Night Fight #1 in TF2 General Discussion
strongsuitHow fixed are rosters? My team tends to pug scrim around that time anyway, but we often have a rotating roster during those scrims...

I'll probably cap at 8.

Shit that reminds me, I'm going to make an IRC channel probably for people lft or lfp. I'll do it when I get home.

#1 Friday Night Fight #1 in TF2 General Discussion

The first Friday Night Fight will take place this friday, October 4th @ 9est.

How to play:

Registration will take place on Friday at 7:30est and will close at exactly 8:50est. In order to register, you must add this account to your friends list: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198071531293. ONLY HAVE 1 MEMBER FROM YOUR TEAM ADD ME. He will be the appointed captain. I'll make the bracket myself and you'll add opponents through my steam friends list. I'll make sure people have appropriate names so that they are easy to find (names on bracket will be close to or exactly names on my friends list). I will seed the tournament accordingly to try and have the best bracket.

I don't have 6/I don't have a team:

If you're looking for players or a team, please join #tf2FnF.

Prizes:

Since this is the first one, there will be none. I want to be able to show that this tournament deserves prizes + I can run it effectively.

Servers:

Newbie Mixes/Tragic Servers have graciously granted me 10 servers to use on friday night. If you need one, send me a pm but please first check that neither your own team or your opponent's have one available.

Casting:
I'd rather not get TFTV involved considering I don't know how smoothly this will run. I'm looking for casters (I can camera if need be) but anyone can go ahead and cast some games, no one is stopping you.

Expected turnout/time:

8-16 teams, 2:30 tourney time start to finish.

Rules:

-ESEA Weapon List
-CP: 30 minutes or first to 5 (aka pug rules). If it's tied, either run the cfg again or if you have the rcon, change the timelimit.
-Koth: First to 4.
-Forfeit: 10 minutes late will be a forfeit. That means 9:10 is a ffl if you're not ready. For matches after round 1, once both teams have completed their matches, the 10 minute timer begins.

I'm going to post this on reddit on friday to try and get as many teams as possible. I really want people of all skill levels to want to play in it. Please don't hesitate to spread the word to your ugc friends or whatever. If I missed something, post here.

Hope this will be fun.

Quick bump reminder to add my account and tonight is the night.

Some additional information:

-Adding me is not enough to register for this tournament, you must MESSAGE ME with a roster. I'm not hunting around my friend's list for the people that want to play. 16 cap tonight so first come first serve. Everyone will be added at 7:30 est.

-I've created the channel #tf2FnF on IRC. Simply join it to find players or find a team. Post "Looking blahblahblabh"

-Make sure only one person from your teams adds me to register your team. If you have more than one, I'll be mad. Also if two people register the same person, I'll be equally mad.

-Djc and mysterious co-caster will be the official casters for tonight. This doesn't mean they'll cast every event so just leave your feedback for them here.

http://www.twitch.tv/dearjohncarter

-Grand finals will be a veto down from 7 maps (coalplant excluded). Coin flip for first ban / first pick.

mousiopeI never knew reading a post could give me aids.

mousiopepeople need to realize that this game is played by people that pay hundreds of dollars of their parents money to have ingame eye candy, and people that live in the pokemon world ...
you can never add moral ethics to mge its not going to happen
it all depends of the common sense of the people playing it, if people are playing like faggots you just need to adapt to that style, and focus on your own practice, after all its a practice mod at the end of the day
like the other day i was watching a top demo scrimming stream, and i asked if he could please stop streaming his music, as i

Well, I'm not sure if anyone will be willing to donate to this tournament.

#59 Gauging Interest for an Idea in TF2 General Discussion

I'm pretty set on hosting the first one on the 4th. I think I have everything pretty much figured out except casting and prizes. Casting will probably take 5 seconds as I'm sure there's plenty of independent casters that would love to cast but I'll also pm enigma or something in the next couple of days.

What I really want to talk about is prizing:

I, personally, really like the idea from FFF. They get free shit and then host a raffle where the the money from the raffle goes to the winning team. This allows people to donate to a big prize pot, win cool shit and also contribute to a fun night. If we start getting a fair amount of money for each tourney, I wouldn't be surprised to see some higher level teams put their try hard pants on.

Some people have talked about an entry fee of refined or some shit but I'm not sure how many people care to win metal and wouldn't want to discourage people from playing because of a entry fee. Even worse would be a monetary entry fee. I'm also against giving out freemium since it's not ESEA affiliated.

Questions I have:

1. Where does Cbear and ruwin get all their free shit? Is there a free shit tree where free shit grows that I have not heard of?

2. How much would you be willing to pay for a raffle ticket if it were what they normally give out during Fully Charged episodes? If I somehow got a unusual (do they give those out?), how much would you be willing to pay?

I'm not sure how relevant the cost would be but more so the total you would pay. 5 tickets for 2 bucks vs 1 ticket for 10 bucks.

3. Do you have any better ideas?

cage-The only issue I could think of is if new players want to join but don't have enough connections with people to make a team. Would there be random pug teams for them to join?

I'd probably make an irc channel or some shit where you could advertise lf players or team.

milehighmilitiaTypically the issues with these types of ideas are lack of organization and lack of a clear plan. If you nail those things and keep everyone informed well enough to where people actually show up on time, and not have everyone sit around for too long this could be great fun for players and viewers.

I'm amazing though so I can't see that being an issue.

potI think if possible (all 12 people have premium) this should be done through ESEA. That takes care of servers, configs, score reporting, and ESEA gives out prizes at the end of the month for TF2. The prizes are pretty shitty right now (Zowie Camade) but maybe if we do these tournaments for a while, they'll get better prizes and even servers.

I'm not wasting my time waiting weeks for shit to go up and down the ladder when I can just run it myself.

smakers Math

I feel like there's something wrong with your math. 16 teams makes for 4 rounds including grandfinals which would be bo3. 3 bo1 30 mins, 1 bo3 ~1 hour. 2 hours and a half + delays 3 hours. Each round adds 30 minutes. I've played in SC2 tournaments that have taken me 3 hours and have seen some that have taken 6. I don't mind putting in an extra 45 min for an extra 16 teams to play.
