Mark your calendars for November 14th, 2015, because you’ll want to see this.
Welcome to the largest, most diverse learning event in the history of Team Fortress 2.
TF2Stadium is proud to present: The "Masters of Classes" day of TF2 masterclasses. One morning a few weeks ago, BUICK, samiface, ScottJAw, and I were hanging out in a mumble casually discussing ways we could benefit the community and bring different aspects of TF2 together. After about an hour of conversation, the ideas for the "Masters of Classes" event—a name I'm a little bit too proud of—began developing into an actual plan. Here was a way to reach new players who were struggling to get more out of the game. A few weeks and many man (and woman) hours later, here we are! Paladin_IMSconsidering how the arena respawn tournament went, they've got a lot to live up to in terms of how the tournament is ran.
They sorted out a lot of stuff with the arena respawn stuff. By the finals, it was run very smoothly, and I have faith the admins will be fine. Also, the last eGO event I did (the demonight marathon thing) was run perfectly smoothly.
This is a big pub org that's dipping its toes into competitive and doing a great job. So yeah, if you don't want to play, that's fine. But let's not shittalk them, they're doing great.
edit: Also, I'm 2 for 2 in winning these eGO things, any soldiers looking for a medic? i wanna game (spoiler: not actually going to win this time)
I actually am incapable of not smiling while watching this stream, oh my goodness.
pinkfloyd193Prizes: 1 key per each member of winning team (and surprise giveaways to stream viewers!)
TFTV message me to talk about getting that prizepot a little higher. :)
I'm torn in this. I understand that it's their website, and they can do what they want.
but a year?
Yeah, just I want to quickly point out that running tournaments is ridiculously complicated, and making everyone happy is never going to happen. There were decisions I made in REALTourney that I have come to regret, and it's stuff like this that makes me hesitant to run tournaments ever again.
The notion that tsc had some kind of benefit in making the call that ash was good to play (whether it was the right or wrong decision) is not rooted in reality. I think if tsc is guilty of anything, it would be overbooking himself in what he was managing. Running both the tournament and the stream is not typically a good idea.
All this said, ninjanick and company have (across all tournaments of mine they've participated in) been the kindest, most easy-going participants I've ever dealt with, so I'm assuming that there were some serious mistakes made by the tournament staff. I hope this can somehow resolve itself, and I do hope that you would give tsc, one of the hardest workers behind the scenes in tf2, a second chance should he ever run another tournament.
it makes it look like tf2 is real life
do it
sinshine 2nd looks cool af

God bless TheFragile for running this event, giving me a spot to sleep, casting when needed, balancing all of this while running other tournaments as well, and somehow finding the strength to record a 40 minute interview for the TF2 documentary at 4 in the morning after a 20 hour day.
Thanks to Dr.ShdwPuppet for being a cool guy despite dealing with a super shit situation. I dunno how he did it.
Thanks to Dashner for spearheading production absolutely last second, making it significantly better than if I were to have to do it.
Thanks to DennisTheMenace for coming to LAN expecting to run camera but instead being the 2nd hand man on everything from running the actual tournament to doing misc production stuff to shooting b-roll to everything else.
Thanks to FrenchyTheLlama for driving home and back to get his PC (like an hour and a half worth of driving) when he learned we weren't going to have a good PC for both our casters, then staying several hours later than he originally planned because of it.
Thanks to the awesome people that gave me rides to and from the venue. I have had some medical issues over the past few months, and there's no way I could have walked both ways every day.
Thanks to the casters--Keith, GetAWhale, Gecks, Flame, TheFragile, Jerma, and Star--for keeping everything light hearted and fun. I would have keeled over at the in-game camera PC without them.
Thanks to all my friends new and old that wished me well as I speedwalked across the venue for whatever reasons.
Thanks to ravioli-can-signing-guy for making my night with the weirdest joke of all time.
Surprised no one has made one yet. I'll start things off with a vlog thing.
I want to say that I'm not against a centered thing (though I would say it's my preference that I'm not a huge fan of it). I would say, though, that it would need to be very cleverly designed to be both as clean as the current setup without being clutter-y, and the recommendation in the OP is both of those things.
The current scoreboard takes up barely any space, looks great on the hud, and is out of the way unless you want to look at it. Citing the people too stupid to look in the corners to get the score as a reason to adopt a clunkier, less theme-following scoreboard doesn't make any sense to me.
You actually lose information with the scoreboard you suggested, especially in euroland where they only play two maps each series. More space taken up with less information given is very rarely good design.
I can't think of a time I've ever seen a sport (or any competition other than some of the esports) keep the score in the dead center. It goes against several principles of design, and isn't really worth the struggle of changing (think of poor tsc and company).
as someone who has played on a team with pie hero and capnfapn before, i can assure you: you want to play on a team with pie hero and capnfapn.
