enigmadoubtful; some chips just overclock better than others
have you considered just using a lower fps_max and adjusting your other accel settings accordingly?
The odds of a 2500k not being able to clock higher than 4.4ghz are slim to none.

Are we 13 year old kids quickscoping on MW3 on xbox 360? No. We are fucking TF2. We are important. We are gorgeous.That ship has kind of sailed. Shit like this has been happening for a long long time. At this point there's really not much to salvage. Yesterday someone from the TF2 community, for the first time ever, someone broke 5 figures, and TF2 was only PART of the reason he made that money, and it didn't come from playing it.
Everyone be friends. You are all good looking.
I'd really want the TF2 community to grow, but when things like this start becoming more and more frequent, the decent players are starting to leave, the sponsors have all left, and all we have left is a bunch of kids fighting with eachother there is no way anyone will ever take TF2 seriously on the same level as DoTA, LoL, CS1.6, etc.
The ship sailed, then TF2 went F2P and continues to grow every day. The audience is there. The potential ROI for sponsors is infinitely higher in TF2 than any other FPS on the market. (This includes CoD and all of that jazz, as the primary market there is younger.) The PC gaming audience generally has more of the 18-35 demographic that people want to target, as we are the demographic with cash money.
TF2's best days can be ahead of it if the community learns to embrace the idea together. Otherwise it's a ticking time bomb.

Yes, I'm running a 2500k @ 5.2. Idle temps don't mean shit, but I never go over 75 in prime 95. Even if you're only hitting 70 ish you should probably consider reseating and using some good thermal paste. (Arctic silver is the best.)

Next time you're playing, run hwmonitor in the background and let me know how hot your CPU gets.
Buddy of mine had an issue where his CPU would downclock the second it got over 55 degrees. If this is your issue I can ask him how he fixed it.
