You can download the original file on Vimeo, just click the download button under the vid, there isn't a 60FPS version as far as I'm aware.

#35 ALMIE'S RECORDING TOOL (ALPHA, WORKS WITH STEAMPIP in TF2 General Discussion
Admirallemaidosdoesnt appear that srcdemo is working with almie recording tool since theres only tga files visible on the folder once u stop recording as srcdemo only pick up tga files when its there :(
Yeah, I don't really know how srcdemo works and i haven't ever used it, so i don't know how to integrate it, and I will add it to the list of things i will look into, but at the bottom I am afraid, as there are more important things that I need to do first.

You shouldn't need to do anything special to get srcdemo to work with whatever recording method, be it manual or 3rd party tool like Lawena or Almie. And I wouldn't bother trying to integrate the 2 programs, it literally saves you the time of launching 1 other extra program and adds unneeded complexity.

For those having trouble:

Make sure that after you have picked the folder you want srcdemo to look for frames (where TF2 will save frames), you don't have that folder open in explorer. Srcdemo cannot mount folders that are active in explorer. It should just work.

Furthermore, try launching Srcdemo in debug mode (use the debug exe in the folder) and read the log, most of it is self-explanatory.

#5 Need some advice on my mechanical keyboard in Hardware

As someone who's been using the Cherry Blue's for the past few weeks it's a really nice switch, nice feedback and satisfying to type on. I personally feel any mechanical keyboard will be nice for FPS games after you use it for awhile and get used to the feedback and activation points.

The CherryMX switches should be consistent across brands so it should feel the same.

Although I'd just like to point out, the stabilizers (the things under wide keys) are different from keyboard to keyboard.

There are a few different types but the consensus is that the Cherry stabilizers are "mushier" than Costar stabilizers. The BW and the keycool use different stabilizers (BW is costar, KC is Cherry) so your keyboard may feel different to the one you tried instore.

For some enthusiasts the Costar is preferred.

Costar Stabilizer:
- Filco
- CM Quickfire Rapid
- Mionix Zibal
- WASDkeyboards
- Rosewill
- Noppoo
- Razer Blackwidow
- PLU
- Thermaltake G1 Meka

Cherry Stabilizer:
- Cherry
- KBC (Poker and Race)
- Ducky
- Leopold
- Keycool
- Steelseries

About half-way down there's pics and comparison.

For me personally I'm using CM Quickfire TK and it has the Cherry stabilizers, I can't say that the wide keys are mushy, if you really press the keys individually and alternate between a normal key and a stabilized key you can tell the difference but when I'm typing or gaming I honestly can't tell.

#8 Can't do/see anything after joining a server in TF2 General Discussion

Keep a tab on if it only happens on pinion servers. Could be a plugin issue, won't be the first time that plugin has caused issues.

If you have any configs that block or attempt to block pinion try deleting them and just adding

127.0.0.1 motd.pinion.gg to

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Won't get rid of the notification but will get rid of the actual ad and music.

#112 The Future Of Competitive Team Fortress 2 in TF2 General Discussion
wareya>the meta of 6es is a very warped version of the standard game.

Actually, many would say that the "standard" game is a warped version of the generalist/specialist meta that 6s is founded in.

EDIT: Remember, pubs right now aren't the foundation of the game, 2007 TF2 is.

Semantics, what we play is not what 99% of what everyone else plays, until this changes you will only get people into comp tf2 by word of mouth and, well, basically peer pressure from friends. There's no natural progression.

#93 The Future Of Competitive Team Fortress 2 in TF2 General Discussion

5CP maps are horribly balanced in pubs and the meta of 6es is a very warped version of the standard game.

There is no continuity from pub to comp, there is only a very tenuous pub>HL>6es link but it's not something as straightforward as, say, a MOBA.

I honestly don't think there is anything lacking with the casting. We have some really good commentators and as long as the camera man has a bit of comp experience they'll know usually where the action is going to be happening.

Plus asking more of the casters is, I don't think, appropriate. It already takes a lot of dedication and hardware/internet to cast, it's not a job any one can pick up and do. And to ask multiple cameramen to be on at the same time and have, well, basically a producer doing a live mix of the different streams to enable playbacks is just not likely to happen.

If you guys want something like that then the only workable alternative is post-produced casts. People watch the STVs, post the ticks of important plays and POVs, a cameraman goes and records it, uploads it, and a caster talks over it, it gets mixed together and posted up. That way you spread the workload, the quality is consistent and anyone can really do it as it doesn't require streaming, just the ability to record in HD.

TF2 is not as boring or stalematey as a lot of FPS', in fact, I think it's probably only second to the Quake arena genre of really fast paced action. I've watched competitive CS and COD, and it's sooooo boring, the action happens in 5 seconds and everything else is just a lot of smoke, flashbangs and people slow walking around corners.

#226 how do you think australia will do at i49 in TF2 General Discussion
dope-wolfwho's footing the bill to get these Aussies out there? must be some serious coin to get out there.

Not sure yet, iM are a properly big gaming organisation though, they've sent I think CS teams overseas before, so it's not like they have no record of doing so.

#9 Soldier is Fun - A Soldier Mini Movie in TF2 General Discussion
DaneYea, I was using max settings with lawena, 240 fps 1920x1080. Though I have no idea what was going on with the ubers... Couldn't really do anything about that *besides not using lawena*

I think you turned specular off. mat_specular I think is the command.

#6 Thin crosshair in Q/A Help

If you really want one that is long and thin and nothing in fog's crosshair matches your needs then find a font with a really long, straight and thin L and underscore (_). And then just make a hudcrosshair from scratch by putting those 2 things on top of each other. Obviously you'll have to play around with the numbers, positioning and font sizes a lot to get it into a +.

#8 Random thought I had in TF2 General Discussion

Perhaps a SM plugin on match servers that tracks streaks and DPS? Maybe uber drops and melee kills too. Then it can send something via a web interface to the casters.

#479 my new hud. in Customization
Goat_First of thanks for the great HUD!
Now to my question:
What do I have to change, so the HUD displays the total damage done, I.e. adds up the damage of the flamethrower/minigun etc.?

hud_combattext_batching 1

Put that in your autoexec.cfg or any config that you load by default (eg, your graphics config).

It's not a HUD feature, it's a cvar you execute in console and works on all HUDs.

#11 Clutch 2 with Vinty; a medic video in TF2 General Discussion
MYLESThe first clip could have been added in better, it's like the camera is in one position then another for a noticeable second.

Some of the transitions were not as nice as I would like (majority are only off by a couple of pixels), but all of them had to be manually placed which means basically putting a screenshot of the final frame of the previous clip on my second monitor and then manually placing the camera in TF2 in the next clip. It's both time consuming and can lead to mistakes which are not easy to fix, what's worse is that TF2 renders everything a bit differently every time it plays a demo.

#8 Clutch 2 with Vinty; a medic video in TF2 General Discussion

I didn't think kill notices added much tbh, plus they got in the way of when I was trying to sync the transitions up. The only alternative would've been to do a greenscreen hud pass which would've been extremely annoying and time consuming.
