Ma3laa: 20b just really need to fix their problems quickly.
Dreamboat: I don't think duwatna can get to lan that fast.

Shoulda donated my appendix to 20b instead of my money in that support thread... I consider it a lost opportunity. BibleThump

#9 Leagues make uick-fix to whitelist in TF2 General Discussion

Im fine with this whitelist tbh, i think that jarate is a little controversial, but since the main point for it being banned in the conversation seemed to be its spammabilty, it could be only a huge problem on some maps, which is an issue on its own. The jarate kinda takes a way the need for focus fire, the person coated in piss is almost has a "FUCKING FOCUS ME SINCE I TAKE MORE DAMAGE" sign above their face. Otherwise, i think jarate can be (hopefully) dealt with, as it does give a little bit more wiggle room into the meta... not much doe, plz don't run full time snipes in scrims to retaliate the strength of jarate D: Thx :)

#17 Overwatch for Stupid People in Off Topic

Basically i see this video as any person who is interested in TF2 may see it. While the way the video is executed is a little childish and immature, it shows how any player could come into it and think its boring. A game shouldn't take hundreds of hours to like it, it should take hundreds or thousands of hours to master it. Blizzard has tailored Overwatch to appear as a professional esport, plain and simple. Even in casual the game is similar to competitive. By having pubs in a 12v12 format with no communication could seem boring if you aren't playing power classes. One of my friends who plays Overwatch avidly will sometimes play TF2 with me and some other people for fun, and he says why he dislikes not the game at its core, but how it was presented to him. By having a sloppy, unsure way of just throwing newer players into the game, there is NO WAY someone is going to get into it without a friend who has a basic understanding of the game. There should be a way of putting basic team comp tool tips in selection screens, what your character does, and a way of learning basic mechanics (such as double jumping, and other simple mechanics). Hell, even games like reflex show you how to rocket jump in basic tutorials. There needs to be an integration system for new players, and the only way csgo has gotten off how they are w/o a tutorial system, is because at low levels it is simple. No nades are needed let alone used, and all styles of gameplay are expected. Do something that makes it so you know what the fuck is going on if you click competitive match making!!! (wich is a nother problem all in itself) People should understand the difference between pubs and comp once they enter matchmaking, this is a crucial step at getting people interested. The only reason i know about competitive TF2 and got into it was because i saw the Archimedes cup advertisement on scrap.tf, which i only know about cause i needed a way to get weapons that i didn't have by playing MvM. That's unacceptable, streamline the process, making it appealing to newer players.

TL;DR: The video proves a good point about how newer players could see TF2 (but doing to in a childish manner), so this should really bring attention to how to improve the newer player experience, which is the main goal in improving the player base and longevity of this game. Make it obvious the differences in competitive and casual early on.

edit: i'm not supporting the format of this video or the malicious attacks in this video, just to make that clear :D

#2 Gravel Pit discussion in Map Discussion

While i think throwing gravel pit into the rotation of an established league might not be the best idea, play testing it with willing teams/pug teams would be great.

Due to TF2's evolving meta, as well as whitelist changes (plz dont make this thread a ban quickfix one lol) it would be interesting to see gpit again. It was pretty fun to watch, and in an organized, controlled environment, it could be tested in a way where willing players can test it. This is mainly to prevent people complaining about the whole "ughhh why did they add gpit." this play testing could also lead to a pro version being fixed for stalemates and other annoying aspects of the map.

#40 Afterglow VACd in Off Topic

Here Afterglow, this may help

If you contact VALVe support, even though it may take a while, if you give explicit information about how the VAC occurred there is a small chance of this ban to be lifted. It has happened to people in the past who have used programs similar to razer synapse, but from a non-trustworthy company, to get VACed and have said VAC lifted if enough information is given. Steam VAC support has access to the reason the VAC was occurred, how the program was installed (injected into the game, aka hacks; or other reasons), and the ips that have logged onto the account (not to shure about that one, but the first two im positive.) Since there where no hacks on you account as you claim, and it was merely the same phone number, then the account should be entitled to some form of compensation, since the VAC rule is if your account is hijacked, the account is banned, and not the person. This is to prevent the, "someone else was on my account" excuse. Its your account, your responsibility. But since the ban was triggered not through your account, but the account with the same number as yours, it may have a chance. Ive seen people get unVACed in the past, and while it is rare, the unbans have been for reasons much more controversial than this. Providing any and all information is necessary, while maintaining a format that is professional and polite (hope you passed sophomore English lol).

An automatic response usually is sent back saying how VACed accounts are unrecoverable, but if you request a person to look into the event backed up with your grounds of doing so, someone might manually take a look at it. Now, whether they decide to unban you or not is at the mercy of whomever is reviewing the ban. Trust me, i have done this myself before, and they have looked into it.

I would act quickly though, since the longer you are VACed, the lesser your chance of review is.
Good luck with your VAC, and hopefully this was to some assistance.

#26 ban b4nny in The Dumpster
SpaceCadetJDuffEven though this thread might be a meme, I like to bring up topics that are serious on this shit , cause i'm no fun lol

but... before i get hate; i definitely support the statements in the cons list.
But b4nny atm is the person keeping TF2 alive.
-His streams are the highest viewed currently in TF2 (excluding special events such as ToTH, tournaments, etc.) bringing more people and attention to the competitive scene.
-He is as well (or so he claims) a person who has been called in by VALVe on multiple occasions about the game.
-Keeping the overall player base of people who haven't experienced him in pugs or on teams, at a like for the projects he promotes.

I do though think his amount of power in the TF2 community is overwhelming, dictating certain events (such as the white list) and having an unfair say on how certain things are handled in leagues.
