Masternoob went and attended i58 in person. one weird thing i noticed is he never smiled at all. in all the funny clips that got posted, everyone else around is laughing and having a good time, and he's just sitting there like his dog got killed for some reason. it stuck with me

And that is a very fair point.
But
Maybe we can count how many people complain once i63 rolls around that there's no real competition for Froyo. I don't know what rosters the other teams are bringing but.. you know. And then maybe we can ask these folks on Twitter or whatever if they could dig up five bucks to donate, if it could have helped. Maybe I'm totally off here, who knows. Kids threw down thousands of bucks so Grant can make a second YouTube channel for guitar and habib can bother his parents. We DEFINITELY have folks out there thinking "Damn dude it's too bad Ascent can't go to LAN"
For the first big GXL I think it was, dashner didn't want to make a fundraiser to go. Same deal. He was like "Well why would people donate with no reason to" etc, convincing himself it wasn't worth trying, or that nobody cared, he felt bad etc. Well I convinced him to make one, the goal was met very quickly, and he made it and the show was awesome. You don't know until you try.
This is the TF2 community. Have we all forgotten about what we can accomplish when we try hard enough?

TailorTFWhile I can understand the appeal of a "gaming chair", I've found that they're almost always super overpriced. Try just looking for a comfortable office chair that, while not as cool looking, can offer many of the same benefits and comforts as a gaming chair, but at a fraction of the cost.
durability can tend to be the issue, and it's primarily with the quality of foam they use, if they use foam at all
you tend to get what you pay for with chairs. are there shitty knock-off gamer chairs? absolutely. are there cheap chairs at Staples or whatever that are fine? yes. but overall, you do tend to get what you pay for. in my experience anyway.
