#60 HRG all female cod team in Off Topic

it'd be one thing if it was a girl team with girl names and the clearly conflicting "girls can do it too!" strategy, but why does the team's name have to be foreplay?(fourpl4y) isn't it already sexy enough?

#14 The Weapon Balance Megathread in TF2 General Discussion

looked like fun to contribute

spys===
spycicle
-renders team pyro useless as captain spychecker in events where the spy is cloaking with the knife out, as he can just run for cover and not be lit for another 2 seconds
-HL is a bit loud and heavy, and disabling scream, kill notification and only giving off the sound of freezing ice makes it powerful in making a team scramble entirely

your eternal reward
-while not OP, it is an important part of the Saharan set which is just too good altogether and also gives a buff that is pretty OP (see #6). A quick solution to balancing it would be to replace the eternal reward with the Wanga Prick, an item already in circulation with the same exact effects and then just removing the bonus.

red tape recorder
-unless you're already autoattacking your sentry, a redtape recorder will still get atleast a level off even if you're good which is huge as level 3 sentry is really just the whole base of engi's damage effectiveness due to rockets
-the ability to amplify the amount undone means that if your team can harass effectively what you tape recorder they won't even need to do enough damage to destroy them

sniper=====
cozy camper
-if there sniper is dead you're pretty much free to get uninhibited aim
-having extended health regen and no flinch on sniper allows him to play pretty agressively and get away with it for little cost if someone is spotting

jarate
-having the ability to keep enemies crit amplified for a period of time without anyway to reduce it's effect is too strong
-besides no 2nd slot, very little reason to not use it
-20 second cd, 10 seconds lasting without healing means if you're quick on the draw your enemies can be crit amplified for atleast 25 to 50% of the time
-as being a projectile it's very easy to toss this over long distances without any awful effects as a pyro can't airblast it the same ways away

multiclass====
reserve shooter
-syncs too well with soldier and degreaser pyro in that if you airblast someone/rocket their feet and you know it's going through, the fast switch allows you to punish him immediately with no recourse whatsoever and pretty easily get a second shot
-the minicrit damage itself basically gives 150 to 200% more damage to a shot. at point blank range, this makes damage go from 90 to 135
-said damage ramp makes an airblast into a corner too deadly to allow a timed delay on your shot to try and beat his reflect since you're already so low most likely that it won't take a second shot (or could and kill you anyways)

#2 TF2 is not connecting to internet properly in Q/A Help

disable windows firewall
test with other steam games
open steam client ports: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=8571-GLVN-8711
delete all steam files except the steam client and the steamapps folder
uninstall whatever might have been installed since tf2 worked fine
check your startup programs and assure something isn't fucking with your game
download pingtester and run it for an hour pinging different things
mess with your router

it would help for you to explain what the internet issues are

#27 Deus Ex: The Fall in Off Topic

incredibly ironic

@28 - that dude's complaint is completely understandable. without giving the spoilers away the end of HR is basically like a really bad zombie game and the actual endings themselves are very bad too -- i don't think you need to beat the game to say it's a pretty good one albeit majorly flawed due to the entire last location just being crummy

#193 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion
CpriceEpochthe point robin had in mind was that competitive play and pub play differed too much -- in korea everyone played iccup and other variants so 1v1s were the staple from which KESPA and other organizations grew. This idea based of changing the meta based on pick-bans and balancing ala dota is something that no one has done before but I think Robin is making a smart executive decision as in this could be the make or break for TF2 as a largely successful competitive game.Actually most Koreans played team games (2s,3s,4s) and still do. I get that 6s and pubs are entirely different, and it's a huge problem, which I think highlander can solve, but the point I was just trying to make is that a stagnant meta isn't/shouldn't be a "problem" that's holding tf2 back.

but it's not, DYE follow staircliff? like the koreans playing it? i played iccup although i was awful, it was a cool experience though. the most people played in terms of team was 2v2 but as it was never nurtured outside of a couple tournaments around mid 2000, it was only a pasttime between 2 friends who played competitive. most koreans definitely don't do that though, everyone still plays iccup solo ladder. americans do play those teamgames alot, but that's because we're all super casual.

edit: if you're talking about SC2 most koreans definitely play only 1v1 mostly, the queue for teamgames take forever on a korean account. but I'm getting offtopic, just love to gush about starcraft. but as semibalanced as BW was with 2v2, SC2 hardly is due to the immense strength of early game now that BW did not exactly encompass.

#188 How to Get to In-Game Comp Lobbies in TF2 General Discussion
KoobadoobsEpochMaybe having a highlander style with some of the 'less OP' classes having a class limit above 1 and allowing teams to play around with more strategy in regards to rolling double engineer, spy, pyro or something like that. alternatively, you could balance the classes seen as OP for their insane strengths and see how that goes too, although I could see that being a problem. And maybe doing 8v8 so that teams are atleast forced to rotate their classes atleast a little bit throughout their games.I think you're asking too much of pubbers to figure out good classchange strats. You'd see the same thing you see in the average valve server: 2, 3, even 4 spies with not a single medic or demo.

you can't hold their hand forever, no one is going to go into competitive without atleast learning a teeny bit about the meta and who cares? those people aren't going to be playing on a high level, and if they're happy about that then let them.

CpriceFrom a competitive standpoint a stagnant meta is actually a good thing. Yeah it may be a little more boring to watch, but if you want to have the highest level of play possible so that the best teams win every time, then you want the meta to be as stagnant as possible. A stagnant meta allows players to actually practice doing the same thing over and over so they can get good at it and perfect it. If we start bringing in other weapons then the game turns into who can find the broken strategy first instead of who is better at executing/the actual game.

Look at sc:bw, the game was played with the same units/meta for multiple years and was extremely popular because it had such a high skill ceiling for execution.

In game lobbies will help grow tf2 for sure, but the idea that the meta is stagnant or that it is actually a problem is just silly to me.

Also I think if we actually want to start growing comp tf2 we need to stop identifying 6s and hl communities as different and merge them into 1 competitive community. This will probably never happen, but the current division between the two communities is nothing but harmful to both.

#11 esea-o looking for high open roamer/backups in Recruitment (looking for team)
wpybro getting cut?
shouldve seen that one coming

i chose to do so because personal issues/i have no idea how stable my schedule will be and roamers are a dime a dozen so i trust they'll get a new and probably better one in time. these guys are great, superior to almost any team in open in regards to DM and will definitely match in any other comparison over the season. Just need a smart roamer.

#15 Problems with the Razer Deathadder 2013 in Hardware
AndI've tried cleaning the mouse already....
Re-installing the firmware
doesn't change anything ;_;

if you have a braided cord make sure its not severed anywhere
if you have a 3.5G, updated firmware makes the mouse perfect (replug the mouse into a new usb outlet by the way), and if you use a 2013 it should ship perfect. i dont know about older.

#18 alan wake series name your price in Off Topic
smakersAlan Wake was really a terrific, fresh approach at telling a truly amazing story. I can hardly wait for a true sequel since American Nightmare was mediocre. Kurt don't know nothin' bout good games.

exactly yo. Amazingly written by Sam Lake (the face from Max Payne), inspired by Twin Peaks and Steven King works. Written like a game should be, using the same utilized finetuning movies and TV shows do, according to Sam Lake's breakdown of it (and certainly no joke for 5 years of development). To enjoy Wake you have to really get into it, otherwise it is kind of a lameo experience. It's like a book, you just have to read every individual page and understand that it isn't made to be the most gripping gameplay experience, just the best game experience.
