#8 game is really hard theory in TF2 General Discussion

Was there any specific moment in the stream where people were disagreeing on a play that was made? I watched the LAN with a group of people and there was a general agreement on statements like, "They should've pushed in earlier", "Someone should've been watching lobby", "Their team should've been making pressure for the soldier sack instead of going in alone".

T0mtf2 will always be slow when a win means more than anything, youve seen it literally every lan the past 5 years

The soldier plays during G6 vs Froyo at LAN created unrealistic beauty standards for soldier players on par with Barbie. Those few games alone were enough to make two-minute long frag videos for each soldier on the teams.

There's a direct comparison in match quality when you look at the RGL LAN Losers Bracket of NA Witness vs. Froyo and the EU Witness vs. Froyo. Both Granary and Snakewater were played in those matches. Both Witness teams lost those games, but NA didn't park the bus when they were losing and start throwing by going Huntsman. Even if EUWitness was playing it safe, Froyo CONSTANTLY sacked Paddie, Arekk, and Jay at the same time that it's baffling how WG didn't adapt after the fifth time it happened and get ready for a soldier sack into lobby.

And this wasn't due to fear of Froyo, Witness vs. TF2Easy had multiple games end in stalemates during their losers bracket. If Witness wasn't going to push out when they were down 0-1 with 7 minutes left on the server timer, I can't imagine them doing so with a new round timer. I still want the new round timer implemented in future games, but even if they ran it during this LAN, I think EU would've still parked the bus. It's just how they've played for so long and it's going to be awhile before they catch up to the better meta.

#38 Revive pugs in TF2 General Discussion
indecencyinstead of having multiple pug groups that never start why not have the overflow of people who dont get consistently picked in an A pug turnover to a B pug everytime? cuz as it is rn theres very rarely 24 ppl ANYWHERE and more like ~18 or ~19 and when those 12 are picked the rest sit in limbo or even worse, leave and wait for the A pug to be repicked

An A pug has started. There is potential to get a B pug started, so what hypothetically happens?
1. Joe and Jib don't want to be in the B pug, they would rather wait for the A pug with the good players.
2. Tim and Tom don't want to add up because Smithy is added up and Smithy is toxic, but still allowed to play.
3. Johnny doesn't add up because he always gets fatkidded. Even if he were to join now, there's no guarantee the pug runners won't lock the queue and then a better player comes in during picks and causes him to be fatkidded again.
4. Frank sees that all that's left in the B pug are a bunch of low-div people who got fatkidded and leaves, he doesn't want to play a low-div pug.

That's why it never gets filled to 24. As much as you want people to just add up, you can't force people to play with someone they think is toxic or play with someone they think is low-div and going to make for a terrible pug. That's why having a group that is TOO big is sometimes worse than a controlled in-house filled with people who are all cool with each other.

indecency but ya instead of going to one central place for whatever reason...

One place to go to is terrible for any system, and terrible for any service. 50 offshoot tiny ones is just as bad, but we've seen the problems already with "one central place" involving something like playing comp TF2 in general. Get banned from RGL or don't like the way they run things? Too bad, they're the only ones around. You want SOME competition because it offers people choices. If RGL, ESEA, and UGC were all equally active, RGL might actually have to respond to some of their criticisms or risk people simply leaving for a better service.

If all of NA was dependent on PugHub, most of the people who play 6's TF2 would either just not pug or rarely get to pug. It would be terrible. The only reason the many teeny tiny Discord groups thing exists is because most of us lack knowledge for web-based coding to create some competition for FACEIT or TF2Lobby. If RGL pugs came out (which, based on screenshots. basically looks like PugChamp), on top of PugHub FACEIT, plus TF2Lobbies as that "third option", I don't think we would see as many offshoots as we do now where it's basically either play PugHub, play a lobby, or make your own pug group.

Obviously there would still be some, but not to the extend of, "I made my own because I'm AM and I don't get picked in PugHub" or "I made my own because I got banned from PugHub but I still want to play" or "I made my own because I'm tired of playing with <this regular> who is ALWAYS in PugHub and is very annoying". You need at least three or four major places to pug and not just one central or we run into the current problem of a lot of smaller clubhouses to solve a service problem.

Ryotdidn't know b4nny was a pug player before this thx Elena. Not a proven player with 5 million seasons...

The clip of b4nny is from 2014, right on the cusp before he became Mr. Sixes and TF2 still had some competition at the top. 2014 b4nny is an off-limits comparison now?

Wild_Rumpus...him opting to go for another trap that could only ever be blind det instead of covering his escape is a weird decision to say the least

Him shooting the crate and that one sticky on the floor while running out of stickies did look like him covering his escape. I don't think it's a hard read to figure that an explosive class that is pushing out onto your team with uber ad is going to jump towards where you're leaving and then either land in front of the trap or rotate to the health pack. It's not a big brain blind det if he were to get one of them, and he had so many stickies out, it's also not unusual for him to det in hopes of hitting something.

Looking at the Granary one:
https://streamable.com/nh5d6w
Drp has six stickies scattered while running and just seemed to be clearing traps or trying to get the Soldier or Demo who was backing up into his crate traps. The Med walking over the b4nny trap wasn't anticipated and just fortunate for him, but not a suspicious det.

The Snakewater demo looked like his team had fought at mid, chased, then backed up. He sets two traps anticipating they're going to do a typical mid rollout to mid to re-fight. You could say it's suspicious, but that demo is also a month old and if we aren't going to get a small wave of people posting suspicious dets after this post, I don't think having a lucky moment that looks suspicious is out of the ordinary in TF2, especially if you play it 80 hours a week and you have to go as far back as a month to find evidence of it.

If b4nny wasn't counting down while streaming, you would think this looks suspicious, too.

Why is the assumption that he must've det'd because of the number of cappers and not that his team was down two, the enemy demo was close to the doorway probably spamming them out, so he could make the assumption they were going to walk forward and take space so he delayed his det trying to guess when they would be walking forward and just got lucky with a pick?

If you're gonna make the statement, "this demo who keeps getting me with all these blind dets", you're gonna need more than one clip with a trap in a very famous spot.

crackbabydumpsteri mean there's edgelords who will just be total morons in scrims who should also get banned. Makes sense to be removed from a community if you can't show basic human decency the problem is when the people making those decisions are too sheltered or whatever to realize how the world actually works,

But some of these are morons in pugs and while talking to their team in mumble and streaming and, except for a couple of outlier moments, RGL does not enforce the same, "behavior policy" in those environments. So it's not actually stopping the toxic people from people toxic.

I also don't quite get why if a team is super toxic you would want to scrim with them again.
