#83 Would you be in favor of a map rotation revamp? in Map Discussion
Twiggywhat we really need is some way to have a map rotation of more than 7 maps (for europe)

Longer seasons and more teams

Personally saying extending main seasons in ETF2L by a week should be doable at the cost of shorter off-seasons but to make it happen and work properly we need more teams as well, or make the league slightly different (mostly for the higher skilled teams) than what it is like now.

#25 A public message to ETF2L in TF2 General Discussion

Hey, I just want to clear things up here. Any content on my personal Twitter account does not reflect the exact opinions nor the future of ETF2L.

I also want to apologize to phi here for portraying her map in a bad way in my own tweet.

#224 December Global Whitelist Changes in TF2 General Discussion
MR_SLIN@bloodis, so what would you have us do?

With the whitelist or European scene in general?

We have been the life support for the whole scene, since we as a community do keep the game as alive as it is currently because we want to keep it alive. It's not even a case where leagues would just churn out a new season after another just because they "have" to, but because they actually do want to, since they care. But if the big parts of the community are losing interest for actions that the big boys happen to do that are affected to all those seasons, then it's obviously something that we are still able to improve upon from.

#220 December Global Whitelist Changes in TF2 General Discussion

@T0m, I'll be honest now and say that while as much as I would want the scene to actually grow more (any amount will be helpful but also really hard due to the age of the game), I also would hate myself for seeing any action that is done by ETF2L to hurt the top of the scene just as well.

It's a completely double-edged sword in my case, I personally want the top of the scene to stay healthy but at the same time I was very keen when the global whitelist was initially released to hope that it would gain more people around. Surely that's not true as it has been pointed out already in this thread, but the point of it was not to hurt all the experienced players that have already been playing this game for several years already only to find out that a Heavy can heal himself with a banana now of all things.

Then again, if money is the only thing that people are looking up for, all I can say is that money was never even a big thing in European TF2 in these past 4 years that I am personally aware of, aside from Insomnia LAN of course that just barely is also hitting similar numbers to what there are currently in NA. But if winning around 80€ per player for something that a whole team puts 3 months of effort into keeps the top of the scene alive, then I guess we have no other choice then.

BeelthazusI for one vote to remove granary and add one of the new maps. I would honestly rather play reckoner at this point, and as much as I am an anti reckoner/sunshine activist, I just don't see any other option. Also this would put us uniform with Europe and I think uniformity between leagues is a luxury we can afford.

If there would be plans on having a map list that's more similar to what the other continents have in use, then removing Metalworks would be a better bet since no other league other than ESEA is still running it currently.

Not saying that there would be need to treat Granary as a special map of its own kind due to its age and keep it because of that, but if there is definitely enough feedback to keeping the map in the season then I don't see anything wrong with it, especially since it does definitely play out in a very different way than all the Process clones as mentioned above, which already gives Granary a special place in the map pool.

bearodactylcow mangler is kinda dumb but i dont think allowing it to get mini crits when kritzed should really push it over the top
that scenario should never happen anyways when you can just flash a scout or other soldier with regular rockets

there's certainly an argument to be made for banning it but given the decision to allow it the past few seasons it doesn't really make sense, the new change hardly affects gameplay if at all

The point was that we admins were aware of how game changing and bullcrap Cow Mangler already was with infinite ammo in the past before the pyro update even since all that was brought up during the discussion as being the biggest complaint for it, and the fact that it still got a buff recently just made making the decision to ban it easier even though it's a very minor buff, but still being something.

#37 Essentials.TF Labs: 133 Tickrate training servers in TF2 General Discussion

I did read both this and the previous thread, hence why I was only wondering if there was anything that would have actually changed in the game to allow anything above 66 tick rate to properly function without the same issues as years ago seeing how now the airstrafing, for example, doesn't seem to be as buggy as it was in the past.

Personally I don't mind TwiiKuu or Wolf Machina trying this out now as an experiment for Essentials.TF, but having other people suddenly hopping into a bandwagon of demanding TF2 to have a bigger tick rate when sacrificing the game from functioning properly is a seriously bad downgrade and shouldn't even be enforced until it is proven to work flawlessly, like in CS:GO.

AnAkkkYou should not use anything else than 66tick on TF2, there are many parts of the game engine where calculations are based on tick 66, so this’ll fuck up a lot of things (e.g. weapon recoil or doors). That’s why the tickrate is locked to 66 in TF2.

On CS GO Valve fixed all these tickrate issues, so it can be modified without any issues.

Quoted from this thread:

Have any of the things related to this changed even a bit in the past 2 years?

#6 Leagues don't try new maps in TF2 General Discussion

Generally the problem is not that ETF2L doesn't want to allow new maps to be tried, but more about people always preferring to play the same maps over and over again. Right now we have been holding cups before every season in the past 2 years (except for S28). And to get a proper result from all of those, we always have been gathering information from the top teams on how did they feel about a certain map played in a cup and a certain map played in the season before.

Now sadly, more often than not the results from that have received have shown to us of people wanting the same 6/7 maps being kept every season, while the newer maps just barely wouldn't get in, even if we would prefer the votes of top players who did take part in said test cups. At this point making a decision gets way too hard, it's not a simple thing of just removing a map and adding another one in, since it really does have impact on the season after that too and numerous other European events that we simply don't want to fuck over just because we aren't running some specific map in the map pool anymore for the current season.

Realistically we would still want to give new maps a try whenever they do deserve it, but knowing that the main map pool that ETF2L has contains 5 maps that everyone likes and 2 that could be considered to be replaced, which doesn't leave too much room in the end for a single map to be enough good in this part of TF2's age to be accepted in the competitive map pool when we all are aware of the base maps already so well that they have gotten in to the game officially even as well. You never know however when some new (or even an old) map would surprise and blow others out of the water though, but I'll be waiting for that day to come when the feedback given is always very minor and not really helpful to the mappers, like how you can see it from this thread alone even.
