Don't kill yourselves, folks. Some things in life are hard as hell, but they pass. Sure it might pass like a kidney stone, but it'll pass anyway. You wouldn't feel as bad as you do if you hadn't been happy before, and you'll feel happy again if you just hang in there.

I keep telling people that Solar's actually a fairly nice guy, and yet nobody believes me, and when you look at this shit it really isn't any wonder why

Meanwhile this shit's fucking going on. "All proof says that what I'm saying is wrong, but I'm right anyway" makes me feel like I'm trying to convert people to my religion, and I don't even fucking have one (No offence). Wall of text incoming, and it's gonna contain a few home truths about Solar. I'll leave a tl;dr, so no worries.

Yes, he's a prick, but that's more of a coping mechanism than anything else. He's actually fairly fragile and sensitive, and what's said generally sticks and stings despite him claiming to laugh it off. He suffers from pretty crippling depression, and has severe trust issues, which is why he's always so hostile: He has more of a "If I just hate everyone they can't betray me" outlook on life, and yes that's sad, but it's all he knows how to do anymore.
To be blunt, he's been pretending to be a big tough asshole for so long he's actually become one, and doesn't know how to stop. He even does it to me, despite being likely his closest friend, possibly even his only close friend (Hell, he was as big a prick to me as he is to anyone else, possibly even moreso when we first met, and it's only by a freak occurrence that we speak to one another today). He's nice if you can get past all of the barriers he's put up for himself as defences, but he's more or less caught in a vicious cycle where people keep pressing him, so he keeps pressing back to try and save face and act like he isn't hurt, prompting people to hurt him more. He doesn't want to be like this, he just can't stop, which in turn makes it worse. He's just trying to stop himself getting hurt.
I can't really prove this, but what I can prove is that he said as much himself, and that he did genuinely try to make amends once. He failed, and lapsed into old habits pretty damn quickly, because he doesn't even know where to begin anymore.
So yeah. That's what Solar is. He's a scared little boy that never had the chance to grow up, and can't anymore, because he doesn't know how. He's genuinely a pretty nice person when you get to know him, but sadly nobody ever really has. I've come closer than anyone else, and even I can't get him to stop walling up.
Do I expect this is going to stop anyone throwing stones at Solar? No. Do I expect this to stop him? Not really. I just figured maybe I could try and shed some light on why he acts like such a prick. God knows I tried.
