#67 we have a new player in the game in TF2 General Discussion

It seems pretty comical that mixup is burning bridges and fucking people over to bring back the season 15 lineup. Granted it's better than the lineup they have now but do they honestly think that lineup is going to have a chance against froyo at either lan? After playing together for a whole season, S15 mixup barely beat an iT team with b4nny offclassing and froyo is significantly better that that iT team at every position except pocket where they've stayed the same.

It's also worth noting that the i52 donation page is currently sitting at ~$6000 which is enough for one of the two teams it's hoping to send. Everyone is treating it as a foregone conclusion that the fundraiser will raise enough money for both teams, but after reading this thread I certainly won't be donating the $100 I'd planned to especially since that 2nd team will in all likelihood be mixup.

#517 ESEA Season 15 LAN Discussion in TF2 General Discussion

I wasn't able to watch yesterday so I just finished watching the vod's now, and all I can say is wow. I've been watching tf2 since season 10, and I can only remember enjoying two moments more in that time: quantic beating mixup 5-4 on badlands in the season 10 upper bracket finals, and LG coming back to finish off epsilon in a golden cap in the i46 upper bracket semifinals. I'm glad tf2 was able to put such a good foot forward on the biggest stage.

Also huge shout out to cbear for coming back to cast lan. All of the great moments I mentioned above were improved by his casting and he was certainly missed the past 2 lans (s14 and i49). Congratulations to mixup, seagull especially, and the north american tf2 as a whole for continuing to be the only major scene where there is actual competition at the top.

#26 qf is just a scapegoat in TF2 General Discussion

It seems highly disingenuous to use those scores from i46 as a straight up comparison to the quick fix debacle. They were reached under the European ruleset where games only take a half hour and tend to be slower in general since the shorter time limit rewards that style of play. If you were to shorten this game to the same time, it would be even lower scoring than the two mentioned (0-0) and that's without any of the incentives to play slow.

However, just focusing on that ignores your main point that the quick fix is being unfairly blamed for problems with Gullywash and competitive tf2 in general. While that is certainly true to a point, I would disagree that it is just a result of a single game played over the course of the lan. I can only speak for myself, but as a spectator, I was extremely disappointed by the lan in general in a way that I've never felt watching tf2. I would go so far as to say that the inclusion of the quick fix ruined this lan for me. Banning the quick fix for future seasons seems like the best way to ensure that this can never happen again.
