sherman_glucki see 3 hudlayout's in the scripts folder, if i wanted to add a hud crosshair to the scripts folder how would i go about it? when i install it my ammo and health disappear.

delete your entire /resource and /scripts folder and reinstall the hud you want to use, then try playing with it. You shouldnt have 3 hudlayouts

this is now officially working again in the latest update (blue moon). the entire hud has been rewritten so some things might look different, but mainly the biggest change is that the classic centered hud (from 2013-2015) is now back and included by default.

the other big change is that you can now update the hud yourself with a batch script (thank wiethoofd for the idea), or by dropping in unchanged stock files from the VPKs to the default_hudfiles folder, just like with wiethud. the stock files will get merged with my changes at runtime due to the "base" include system this hud now uses, essentially patching over the stock files.

also, it is fairly simple to add hud crosshairs or edit animations, colors etc. if you need to. just look around in the resource and script folders to see what i've done for some examples on how this all works.

catman1900is there a way to update the hud if I'm using linux since the bat script unfortunately doesn't play like that

auto-update scripts can be converted to bash for the adventurous, this example demonstrates the idea and syntax but would require editing to work for tf2hud+ since it uses different folders and each do some different things. The versions of HLExtract may be different as well, I remember there being some versions that didn't work on linux, and some that work perfectly fine.

You don't need a script though, you can just extract the hud files from the vpk's (there are multiple options: 1 2) or download them (such as from here) and overwrite the old ones in the default_hudfiles folder. The auto-update script doesn't do anything other than extract files and place them in a certain folder, and that can be done manually if you want.
