What's the possibility of having 14 slot ESEA servers that autokicks everyone but special "caster" accounts after 12 people are in? Valve is still focusing on making festive weapons work in medieval mode so it looks like we'll keep getting flipbook fortress casts for a while unless the comp community does something on it's own.

The real problem is the possibility of stream sniping

Not at all, you could easily put a delay on the stream. The only issue in that regards would be there would be a delay between the caster and those in chat.

And also if there is a delay on the stream, any stream crashes get made worse by the fact that it takes DELAY_TIME before the stream comes back online, and every second you are offline you lose viewers.

I agree though that things need to change, but I think that if we're going to have ESEA fix the problem, we should have them actually fix the problem.

As for the crashes, I believe those are Valve's fault and you should all blow up tfteam@valvesoftware.com with complaints.

EDIT: For what its worth, it is totally possible that the STV lag is not entirely ESEA's fault. You never know what Valve may have done to fuck things up.

Ridiculous they don't test this shit before pushing their snapshot builds. Just further indication it's all about casual and MVM.

Good luck getting this fixed soon, I can only imagine the frustration you guys are dealing with. Like Lange said, hit them up - maybe if enough people bitch and moan it'll get addressed in a zero-day. There was already a post on HLDS about it, so Eric knows... but a single message there won't always make a difference. Probably won't be addressed until Wednesday/Thursday of next week in a snapshot update.

Unless for some reason there's a huge re-surge in the popularity of TF2 we're going to start taking a backseat to some of Valve's other products. DOTA at any given time has up to 4 times as many players playing as does TF2, and from a business standpoint it makes more sense that DOTA gets more focus from the game devs. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and if the competitive playerbase doesn't continue to speak up and remind them that TF2 is still worth their attention then our issues will continue to be forgotten.

All I want is to be able to talk in STV like I used to be able to

TF2 came out in 2007, dota started beta in 2011, I feel like the reason theyre focusing on dota > tf2 is obvious

What I'm going to try to do tonight is set up a SourceTV relay from the ESEA SourceTV relay that people normally connect to. I will see if this relay contains the same lag as is on the ESEA STV relay.

If needed I can provide a private STV relay to the casters if ESEA is up for it.
