Completely random crashes

My game just crashes out of nowhere, sometimes in 30 mins or 30 seconds after I join a server, and I couldn't find a common point between all the crashes, I just know that audio just stutters for around 15 secs and I can't move my mouse and then the game crashes to desktop with "hl2.exe has stopped working" showing up.

I reinstalled tf2 and tried using -dxlevel 90 and -dxlevel 91 and some other stuff but nada.
I use comanglia's fps config and these are my commands on steam:
-dxlevel 90 -novid

Oh yeah, I also added
mat_specular 0
mat_phong 0
r_worldlights 0
to the config (tried removing them and it didn't help).

Any help would be appreciated :3

Try replacing -dxlevel with +mat_dxlevel.

Nope, didn't work, still crashing

A last resort solution would be to reinstall your OS completely, but I hope you won't have to go that far.

Have you tried using -default? Also, did you change anything right before the crashes started happening?

No, they came before the tough break update and the only change I did was when I opted out of steam beta for better fps, I'll try using the -default though.
