There's a petition to get Sega to re-release the Dreamcast with new hardware capable of playing in HD. I Still have my original Dreamcast but this seems really awesome if Sega goes through with it. Sign the petition here: https://www.change.org/p/sega-of-america-to-design-and-release-a-sega-dreamcast-limited-edition-console to let sega know you want a new Dreamcast.
Edit: If Sega does re-release the Dreamcast the gaming community should do there best not to download the games for free. That was a huge problem with the original Dreamcast and one of the main things that caused it to fail.

I know how you feel buddy. I know some people that I wouldn't hear the end of it from, so I'd be happy for them.

Don't want to be that guy, but I'd much rather save my money with that said.

Sorry Dance didn't mean to bait you lol. Wish it was about Sega announcing a Dreamcast 2.

To support a company you grew up with. To have an actual Sega controller in your hand. To be able to run Killer Instinct without problems. Hell maybe we might even get some new games if sega makes it.
Really kev if your not interested then just don't sign the petition, simple as that. I figured I'd post it because there's probably some old Sega fans,in the community, that would be interested and would pay good money for an updated Dreamcast. I've never been a huge Sega fan, I always liked Nintendo more but if this goes through I'm gonna splurge for it.

nah i didn't mean it like that as i still support sega even now

i still own my sega saturn and an original copy of nights into dreams/jsr + jsrf and i rebought those games multiple times but i just don't see a point of rereleasing sega's worst console, it's such a niche market

PinKushinTo support a company you grew up with.

Games company's typically don't make profit on hardware. They sell the hardware at a loss and then make it up in software sales later on (which wouldn't happen here as nobody is making more Dreamcast games and SEGA makes nothing off of the second hand market).

I'd argue that the Saturn was Sega's worse console, but I digress. I can understand where your coming from now though.

That's how hardware is sold now a days yes, but that doesn't mean Sega couldn't sell there hardware for a profit. This system really wouldn't be a competitor to the XBox One or the PS4 and since it would be a niche market people in that market would be willing to pay for it. Also since the Dreamcast was basically a computer running windows ME when it came out it didn't and wouldn't take much to port games to it. The problem with getting games for the system made when it first came out was more that Nintendo and Sony had exclusive rights to most of the big name games of that generation. All Sega had at that point was Sonic. I'd still love to play Killer Instinct and Sonic Adventure the way they were meant to be played instead of the shitty N64/PS2 ports.

I don't think you understand what Sega's goals as a company are. They are not going to spend a bunch of time and money on a niche piece of hardware. That is literally what bankrupted THQ.

When did THQ make a console? I want it. But yea your right I don't know what Sega's goals are doesn't mean i cant dream about having a new Dreamcast. It can also be argued the Steam Box is a niche piece of hardware too. Which I would see the Dreamcast being a direct competitor to since there both basically mini-ITX PCs.

But really, a Dreamcast HD is like the definition of a high risk low reward project and I don't know if you noticed but nothing Sega has done in the past 5 years or so really fits that mentality.

The only way I'm buying a console now a days is if its a new Dreamcast. I actually haven't noticed anything from Sega in the past 5 years. So other then them trying to not die out, I don't know what they wanna do. I do think that it isn't as high risk as your trying to make it seem. They've already done all the R&D that would need to be done for the system so other then production I don't see many other costs. I also have to ask why you posted a picture of what looks like a PS4 peripheral?
