Problem getting my fov to 90

A few hours ago, I was mid-game when I noticed that my fov seemed to be around 70. When I went to options, tf2 said that my fov was still at 90. Fov_desired 90 didn't change anything. I tried verifying the game cache, but it didn't help. I don't know if this could be it, but I downloaded chris' max fps config a few weeks ago and my tf2 has been a bit weird since, so I suspect that might be the source of the problem. Any suggestions?

edit: deleted chris' config and my custom hud fixed it. Thanks Phrakture and NightGoat.

Aspect ratio also affects fov. If you changed it recently that might be the difference you're seeing

Have you tired completely removing your config and playing default? That would show if it's the source of the problem.
