The first week of June my computer froze and on startup it said Bootmgr is missing press Ctrl alt dlt to try again. It wasn't a problem then because I was about to leave for a while w.o my computer but I kinda wanna game out until school starts sorta but I turned in my computer to a family friend to try and fix it. Anyone know the problem and or solution?

open your bios and make sure your boot drive is set correctly/is listed as your primary drive.

I did check that but I can't remember what the order was. I reset it to default pretty sure it would put boot drive up primary

You're going to have to find out what your primary drive's name is. Just guess and check if you don't knoe. Because if you sort by default, it'll sort by sata port number (0 1 2 3 etc).

Can you get into windows at all? If so try this in the command prompt.

sfc.exe /scannow

If you can't get into Windows or that doesn't work, then you can try some of the solutions from the Windows installation disc (startup repair or system restore if possible). If those still don't work use the command prompt from the disc and try these commands.

bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe /fixboot

If those don't work try this:

bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd

Honestly, he really has 2 scenarios here:
1. HDD is dead
2. Partition table is fucked
3. OS install was corrupted and the bootmgr went with it (happens)
4. Boot order is screwed up in the BIOS (this has happened to me so many times)

I really hope it's #4. If you're concerned about the drive, I suggest you plug it into another computer and check it out. I doubt your drive is corrupted/damaged, unless you're one of those unfortunate souls who owned one of those seagate 7200.1x drives (I have 2 dead ones):
