Back Audio/Microphone Jack not available

Hoping somebody could help me out with this issue. I recently got a new headset, and have been having issues with getting the audio and microphone jacks to work on the back of my PC. When the headset is plugged in on the back, it does not recognize them as being there. This wouldn't be an issue, but my front jacks are starting to sound rather static-like. I have re-installed drivers already. How do I go about enabling the back jacks? I am pretty convinced it's not the headset. Also, I have no dedicated sound card. And yes, I do have my headset plugged in correctly.
