I ignore tier lists because there are people in the community that know the difference between that and skill, and skill wins. Here's Scizor's link, and Cheers to all.

I don't mind, but what I'm basically saying is that the character's not the one who kicks ass, it's the player who does, and if the player can kick the ass of another, then that's what the player will do to everyone else, despite what character the player picks.

I play kirby, btw.

This argument is inherently flawed. I feel like people only say "I ignore tier-lists/I don't believe in tier-lists" because they A: Want to sound cooler, and B: Have a complete misunderstanding of what a tier-list is meant to represent. Skill only matters in consideration of a tier list if the players are of significantly similar skill levels. It's ignorant to say that skill matters more than tier, because obviously a better player will win more often than not if the gap is big enough. If players are relatively similar in skill, that's when tier-lists are supposed to have weight/meaning. The Smash tier lists also consider match-ups and all that jazz as far as top tier players.

I only said that because that's what I want to do, no matter how ignorant I may be. The match-ups in brawl is pretty much the only thing I focus on, because it's what tells what the player can or can't do, what they need to avoid, and how to take advantage.

The skill of a player does determine how much use he/she can make out of a character, and the put it down in a match-up thread only to determine the tier list in a proper way. It's just there to tell you which character has a stronger chance of victories. I'm not gonna follow that route where people choose snake and stuff only because he's better.

I'm in competitive brawl because I want to beat the people who beated other people by finding strategies and ways to take advantage, not a cheat sheet. I can assure you most smash pros do the same as I do, not because of the tier list, but because it the character the find most comfortable to play with.

Bah, random rambling, yes. But that's just my two cents. I also hate myself for starting an argument.

Edit--

Here's another video. This one was my favorite.

I wasn't trying to argue with you either, just saying tier lists serve a purpose

it'd be like saying that a 6s team in tf2 should be able to run a full time spy just because the player is so good at tf2

Hyrule is most definitely just a country, not the world. Also I main Sheilda.
