Casting Feedback

Hey guys. I've been dabbling in the art of casting for the last few weeks and I'd like some constructive feedback. What do you like? What don't you like? Do I need to up the hype? Tone it down? Analyze more or play-by-play more? Do you like that I've changed casting partners each time or would you like to see a specific person/people along side? If people enjoy it, I'll try to keep casting whenever we don't have a match, but obviously I'd like to improve.

Also, if there's a way to get pre-set settings in dxtory/xsplit to up quality without ruining my ability to maneuver the cast camera I could use help in that aspect to. Be honest but constructive! Thanks!

P.S. If you haven't seen the casts they are on my twitch.tv/platinumtf2 VODs, thanks.

Your casting is entertaining and intelligent, as evidenced by your number of viewers. I've no problem with occasional strong language, but some might, so I guess you can cut some of it out. I heard you make efforts to do so last night with LG vs. HWG, which I'm sure many appreciated, so keep it up.

It's also always good to hear the caster get really into the game, so you nail that part pretty well.

I watched you cast last night and even watched it again before bed. You have great insight into the plays that are developing and what should be done in certain situations. It's really cool to see casters that have experience with the players. You and pyyyour are a great team. Bring on ggglygy for the laughs.

Casting is generally good. It seems like a lot of casters lack intensity though. Might just be a personal preference enjoying listening to it though. There is something about hearing a caster just going apeshit that makes it even more entertaining.

It's like the soccer announcers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzR_YkFhnNc Those guys are nuts, but it also makes it that much more to listen to them.

(It hurt to hear you rip on GOIN HEAVY, but everything you said was totally true.)
I think your super dynamic style works really well for casts, and you bring an awesome amount of energy to the casts. At least one guy I know thinks you're cute.
Keep on doing it, you guys do great work as a team. Loved the cast last night, super job.
(your voice is pretty cool too)

Not sure if you do this already but could you turn off music in the background while you cast? Can get annoying.

I think you've improved on this, but sometimes you talk over your casting partner when they are trying to say something. To me its kind of distracting and its hard to hear everything being said when multiple people are talking at once.

I thoroughly enjoy your casts because you can give some very intelligent insight into matches since you're one of the most experienced players in the game. Keep changing up the partners too, it's always nice hearing from different people, and getting different views on the games.

#8 I only have music on when mgeing/jumping, I always turn it off for casts/scrims/matches.
#9 yes that was the one major flaw I saw when I first started, I've made a conscious effort to really limit myself from interrupting my co-host unless it's necessary.
#4 that's GOT to be trademarked already..

I especially like how you not only call out what a team is doing wrong, but explain what they _should_ be doing. I think if you want to grow competitive TF2, knowledge transfer is key, and when you do the latter that's exactly what's happening.

you dont need more than like 30 fps to cast, so go dx9 and use chris's dx9 config if needed

you can create shortcuts for tf2, which will exec the correct configs whether you're casting or playing

I can set you up with some settings for casting that will allow you to maintain a solid 60FPS while casting, but you'll want to revert back to the others for playing.
