steam overlay not working

my steam overlay in tf2 won't open up; I checked if it is enabled and even re-enabled it just to be sure, but when I open up tf2 it just won't work :S
help?

The newest update broke the Shift key in TF2 (that includes all binds). I've emailed Eric Smith with a demonstration video.

You can fix it temporarily by rebinding the key in the settings.
