Roamer equalizing to mid?

I noticed that in the process match between LG and Mix^, both roamers equalized, and the pockets jumped. Any particular reason for this? Does it lend itself to better health overall? If so, is that particular to certain maps? Is it just personal preference for the teams/players?

I guess I'm just used to seeing the pockets equalize and the roamers jump.

I thought the reason the roamers didn't equalize was just because gunboats makes it hard to hit ~50 hp.

edit: and a lot of roamers like gunboats

In the LG vs. Mix^ match, both roamers were on gunboats, and they used 4 rockets to get down to around 80 health or so.

pockets do it because its less strain on the medic when a roamer is jumping since he is taking less damage with gun boats, and its easier for the pocket to equalize

on some maps, the equalizing soldier is going to come out slower than the ~270hp roamer, and that let's the (non-equalizing) roamer either take better positioning quicker or move into the other team less opposed.

i think you build more uber when a pocket jumps

also if the roamer equalizes he's kind of guaranteed the 300 hp buff so he doesn't have to wait around at the start

But would you get there with the same amount of health?

I'm guessing it's because of Grape's 2nd point.

The only problem is if you're doing a rollout where the enemy team can see you before you get to 300, because they'll be able to just chipshot you to stop your crit heals.

It's not about health since the medic will get to mid the same time no matter who equalizes.

If your pocket jumps to mid you get 5-10% more uber depending on the map and process has a long rollout. If the rollout is shorter you'll see more Roamers jumping. This also happens on maps like granary where you see the pocket jump since both sollies arrive with 300 anyways.
