So I've noticed recently that my stream quality is pretty bad. I currently have my bitrate set at 500 kbps with an upload of 1.5 mbps. I'm streaming at 640x400, have my codec preset at ultrafast, and quality preset at 10. I also have my audio at 128kbps and I'm using OBS.
I share this connection with 4 other family members, although only one will complain when there's lag and she's playing a game, 1 will not complain but does play some games, 1 uses an iPad, and the last one does not use his computer often. I need to allow all of these people to be happy (basically mostly the first one).
Is there anything I can change to make my stream look better at this bitrate or do I need to increase it?

If your upload is at 1.5, probably set your bitrate between 750kbps and 1000kbps. Should be able to handle that, just keep testing by bumping it up a bit until you start dropping a lot of frames.

I think he means a bitrate that won't soak up everything from their network so that the others can use it too.

Having the codec set to ultrafast will make whatever bitrate you're using look much worse than it should.
