Try the GTS and a ditto for ditto trade, usually a Japanese ditto up there for grabs, if you are masuda methoding that is.

Post-Game, you get access to a city called Kiloude City. In order to get to it, you go to the train station in Lumiose City and the Professor will give you a ticket for it (you can fly to it after your first visit). Go to the top right corner of the city, enter the building, and talk to the lady at the desk. She will then show you cards of all of your friends with types. Say you are looking for a Wartortle. You search for someone with the Water card and enter it and hope they have one.

If you are talking about friend codes in general, best way is to post your friend code and add people. When you both add each other and both log online ingame, you can have access to the Hidden Abilities those pokemon have. To know if you can get HA's or not, look at their card and see if you see their face. If it's a ?, you can't, if it's their trainer face, you can.

Each person has 2 or 3 slots: 2 if they haven't beaten the game, 3 if they have.

All pokemon in there have 2 31 IV's, as well, and you can catch just about any non-legendary pokemon.
