dumb tech support question

I'm usually super good about troubleshooting my own tech problems, but I'm just completely stumped in this one.

I've got a gs3 running the latest version of android OS that it can, non-rooted. After an update that seems to have rolled out late last night or early this morning, the youtube mobile app seems very bugged in that whenever I watch a video, there is no progress bar. When I touch the screen once, the pause double bars appear, along with, in the upper right corner, the plus sign, the "share" symbol, and the three vertical dots that do whatever. But no progress bar. It's unbelievably annoying to not be able to seek in either direction, as I'm sure you can imagine.

Any advice is more than welcome, and I can provide more info if needed
