hello all, figured id make a new thread instead of pointlessly bumping the old one,
Fog is shutting down his DM servers near the end of July (26th? 27th?) and
they're shut down for good now
tl;dr i put together some new DM servers in a datacenter in Missouri.
This thread will serve as a place for me to update yall on important or unimportant shit that i'm doing with them, and for yall to report bugs and other feedback, though honestly itd be a better idea to add me on steam for that because i check that much more regularly
anywho, the dedicated server these all run on has excellent routing, somewhere around 10ms (30ms total) more than chicago nfoservers have (20ms total) for me in Ohio, so ping really isn't an issue, esp. since they're primarily for american players.
Anyway, they all have the essential plugins the old servers had, including the steam level limiter and TFtrue, and i'll be setting up a system to add the old bans from Fog's servers to each of my servers' banlists and synchronize them with each other. should be fun. never mind I just added sourcebans
they use this whitelist, and these maps (though not in the same order on each server as this leads to the same maps being played on different servers, which isn't a good idea imo)
these maps and the whitelist are subject to change, based on community feedback thru polling, which i've already done, somewhat
there are currently 3 "normal" servers, aka 4 players per team with a max of 2 scouts, max of 2 soldiers, max of 1 demo, and max 0 everything else per team.
there's also a sniper server, with the same 4 player per team limit, with max 2 scouts, max 2 soldiers, max 1 demo, and max 1 sniper per team.

try using cloudflare's dns? 1.1.1.1 + 1.0.0.1
i had this same problem and i fixed it by clearing the dns record for my mumble + recreating it but i own 2 domains and can control that, not sure if you can do that...
try restarting the mumble that youre trying to connect to, if you own it?

and also ive fixed (and helped other people fix) a problem with the mumble overlay breaking by setting mat_antialias to 0 instead of 1 in the comfig.cfg part of this config thru vpk editing.
even if it does clamp, which im fairly sure it doesnt in tf2's version of source, whats the harm in setting it to 0 anyway?

eh i mean i could probably open like 20 dm servers and still barely make a dent in utilizing the processor effectively tbh
i dont see a problem with it, theyre not rly taking up space that "normal" servers would be because i can basically make infinite "normal" servers
