Only when these high-quality images are on your screen. It won't affect ingame performance in any way, just backpack and loadout pages.

This will pretty much destroy your performance if you set it for the backpack page. Reason for this is because when you have the high quality item type selected, every frame the game will reload the vmt for each image shown (presumably because valve didn't think there would be many of them on the screen at the same time. Because of this the overhead from the filesystem will pretty much crush your frames if you don't use it sparingly.

You can slightly improve your performance (~5% for me) when using this trick by setting filesystem_native to 0.

Bob_Marleyi think comanglia says in his cfg that if you have good cooling you should leave fps uncapped to prevent latency and if you dont have good cooling you should leave it capped cause its bad for the computer. So i would assume if you have a decent desktop you should not use it and if your on a laptop or something you should use the cap. At least i think it says something like that. You can probably check. I think its near the top of his config

Past fps_max 300 I personally don't notice any change in input lag or my performance as a player, but it heats up my room so damn much that I have to lower it to 150 in the summer ._.

Try changing your cap by 2 or 3 fps in the positive or negative direction. If you set your fps_max to certain values, you'll end up with a screen tear in roughly the same spot every frame which is very very distracting and ugly.

Bucakei just ran into the command at a certain point and it sounded like "it will look pretty". my fps didn't go down, so i figured "why not leave it in".

Not trying to be rude here... but you are changing console commands without knowledge of what they do, then assuming that there is a bug when your performance is crippled.

If someone runs out of VRAM because they are using mat_compressedtextures 0 (which will load the already compressed textures from disk, decompress them, then send them to the gpu, which doesn't improve quality but uses 6 times more vram), their video driver will start using system ram as vram. This is VERY slow and will destroy your fps.

BucakeBucakeseems to be just me, but whenever one of those skins is rendered (can be behind walls) then my game just becomes unplayable. my fps drops with 80 or something and the game plays like it's on 5fps.

if even 1 player has a new skin, i have to leave the server.. simply unplayable whenever he takes it out.

done some testing: having mat_compressedtextures set to 0 will absolutely wreck my game. simply unplayable as soon as one of the new skins is rendered.

could someone else test if this is also the case for them..?

Why on earth would you have this cvar set to 0? It (objectively) doesn't improve texture quality, and will only result in MUCH more vram being used.

Why would you want to return the money? MasterNoob realized he was in the wrong, and decided to give the money unconditionally to complete the indiegogo campaign. Returning the money completely out of spite would not only set them back 500 euros, but would completely destroy any effort to rebuild ties between the communities.

You see if you play Mann-Power when you shoot your hook the usual grapple line is not visable and I wondering if this could be fixed?

Ropes are turned off in this config.

Good question.

You can think of a thread as a task that only 1 person can work on at a time, each core being a person (imagine multiple people trying to write a singular sentence at the same time, it's just not possible). For whatever reason (heat output balancing between cores maybe?), windows will change who is performing that task between different cores very rapidly.

There's still only 1 core actually executing the instructions for a given thread at a given time, it just looks like the workload is being run by multiple cores at the same time because task manager is averaging the load over the past 1 second or whatever.

Thus the maximum possible total cpu utilization of a single thread is 1/<cpu core count>. TF2 supports at most 3 threads, and you have 8 cores, so the max possible cpu utilization of TF2 in your case is 3/8 = 0.375 = 37.5%.

Windows will distribute those 3 threads @ 100% across all your cores, so you won't see 3 cores at 100%. ~37.5% of tf2 + ~10% of other stuff happening (drivers, dwm, etc).

Read down a bit further in that thread and realize it's a placebo and actually does nothing to the game.
