#4 My own private MGE server? in TF2 General Discussion

considering you just want to play MGE privately (which is already a one-off mode), it's way cheaper (if not completely free) to temporarily rent a server via http://na.serveme.tf/

#65 What is the game that requires the most skill? in Other Games
shirtsnotshoesJoshuawn i'm not gonna lie that game looks fun as fuck. I'm going to definitely play it until I get bored with it/find something I dislike with it. It's not the game I was looking for but it certainly looks fun as hell to try to master. I'm referring to gunz btw. I don't know if I should try the original or the new one that came out, though.

Daggerfall and natural selection 2 isn't what I'm looking for. not sure why you suggested those :o

i suggested them because they have a lot of your desired features. don't get snarky with me boy!!!

gunz 2 was a massive flop & has less players than the gunz 1 pservers. it is unfortunate since gunz 2 has really cool graphics, but they massively fucked up the netcode & the combat is much clunkier.

chivalry: medieval warfare is as close as you can get to a semi-alive, full character control PvP game.

gunz: the duel is ancient & super niche since it lives solely on private servers & only hardcore veterans even play it, but it prioritizes character control over everything else. arguably one of the hardest mechanical shooter games (although i enjoy tf2 a lot more than the current state of gunz).

these servers are practically the only ones with players (only ~200 on at any given time):
https://universegunz.net/ and https://fgunz.net/

here's a decent enough tutorial to get you started on playing the game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg8QsK8-Ds0

here's an example of the physical mechanics required to play gunz (note that this guy is way slower than most players nowadays -- unfortunately, i can't find any keyboard videos more current & accurate of gameplay than this):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyQ2O-LtgRo

here's an example of a typical 1v1 match:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgkEj1JBFPI

elder scrolls: daggerfall is also a lot like what you're describing, but it's single-player & on DOS. really fun game regardless.

if you can compromise on not having full limb control, natural selection 2 might be up your alley.

#47 What is the game that requires the most skill? in Other Games
shirtsnotshoesAre there any that are like an MMO but allow for insane individual skill? (Kind of like black desert online but more deep in terms of mechanics)

DARKFALL: RISE OF AGON for NA players and DARKFALL: NEW DAWN for EU players

hardcore open world sandbox fantasy MMOFPS with full-loot & clan warfare.

some recent gameplay videos:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxZ50K4cmgI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ng7oSFDpcWU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_YdSt7CF5M

manual attacks (melee, archery, & magic), a wide variety of spells & skills (~60 unique spells out of ~100 in total that are actively used in competitive play), fast paced movement (INCLUDING BUNNYHOPPING), and active health/stamina/mana management to name a few defining PvP features.

easily the most skillful MMO that has ever existed

the new player experience (NPE) isn't well fleshed-out & the population is relatively small as a result (~200-500 on at any given time). as such, i do not recommend that you pick it up quite yet. once they make it easier for people to understand the game, however, i have high hopes for its success.

very talented team of veteran darkfall players are leading the game's development; the community practically directly develops the game.

note: darkfall was originally available between 2009-2012 until Aventurine (the original developers) went under.
~2 years ago, two different teams got in contact with the right people & were able to license the game (giving them nearly full control over the source code).
the directions of development between RoA and ND are a bit different, but the fast-paced combat isn't in contention.
it's safe to say that NA players should play on RoA (their beta server is hosted in New York) and EU players should play on ND (their beta server is hosted in Paris).
having high ping is disadvantageous, but it isn't the end of the world.
for example, one of the best players lives in Pakistan and plays on RoA with 200+ ping: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1AEIMNZFjk

#7 doubleclick OS issue? in Hardware

unless you prep an enterprise LTSB ISO to completely remove cortana & other miscellaneous performance hogging bullshit, i wouldn't touch windows 10 with a 10-foot pole.

also, that site was registering double-clicks erroneously for me (two quick clicks wouldn't register as a double-click, but two delayed single-clicks would). you need a different (preferably low-level) testing suite. i have a few programs i used a while back to properly vet mouse performance; i'll send them to you after finals.
